Looks like an attempt to bomb Glasgow airport has been disrupted.
Where next?

AS wella s gas cylinders there's also a suggestion that one of the car drivers tipped petrol over himself- IF this si true then we have suicide bombers ladies

IF this is true

DoubleBluff · 30/06/2007 17:42

I just feel really pessimistic about all this.

TaylorsMummy · 30/06/2007 17:43

i disagree with you.blair has to take responsibility for what he has done.he has involved us in someone else's war.

Peachy · 30/06/2007 17:45

I agree he ahs to take responsibility for this, and acourt case may or may not be appropritae

But blaming him for others actions takes the blame off the perpetrators who are completely responsible for their own choices

SaintGeorge · 30/06/2007 17:45

If this is a terrorist attack then I think it is a pretty pathetic, badly organised one.

OK, it has shut an airport, but then again the weather can do that.

Maybe not an accident but I honestly don't think we are talking major terrorist action here.

octo · 30/06/2007 17:47

It doesn't matter how big the event is - they have still achieved their aim of causing terror, upset and worry to many people.

TaylorsMummy · 30/06/2007 17:47

yes peachy,i agree with that

McDreamy · 30/06/2007 17:47

what's going on?

Peachy · 30/06/2007 17:47

Well its a pretty crap suicide bomber that gets caught isn't it?

(and thank goodness for that!)

sfxmum · 30/06/2007 17:49

yes thankfully they are not very competent bombers are they?

it will never end will it

McDreamy · 30/06/2007 17:50

No I don't think it will sfxmum

TaylorsMummy · 30/06/2007 17:51

looks to me like a copycat kind of thing, like 21/7, i agree it doesn't seem too well organised but it's still frightening that there are so many people out there willing and wanting to do this sort of thing

Peachy · 30/06/2007 17:55

My friend is doing research into suidice bombers for her degree (she's doing the same as me but a more Islamic slant) and has some interesting film footage on suidice bombers in their last hours and them being reassured about the wonderful things that will ahppen after they die . Its awful that people- who must in some way be vulnerable to believe this- are targeted like this. It makes youa ware that the biggest sriminals are the ones at home watching the bombers go into action. And as long as that is the case, more can be recruited. The bombers are disposabal fools, almost.

octo · 30/06/2007 18:00

it scares me how many suicide bombers are women - you think (or I did) that it was men that were responsible - how dim was I?

Peachy · 30/06/2007 18:04

There have been cases of children as attempted bombers too, now theree is no way they could have chosen to carry out an attack and understand the consequences! There was awomana rrested as well that I read of, had been planning to catch a plane with her DH, baby and a bomb

Effing unbelievable

But thenif you think about say Israel / Palestine and look at some of the ahtred that is inbred in the schools in BOTH Countries (have seen some of the awful propaganada films) you realise how deeply complicated it becomes

sfxmum · 30/06/2007 18:04

the thing is i can almost understand the mind set if you live in Palestine / occupied territories but here it is very hard for me to even see why it would cross anyone mind, it is just so alien

Peachy · 30/06/2007 18:07

IF it is Al Quaeda behind this (and really it is a big If at the moment) then its all tied up in the same hatred and mistrusts isn't it? Ultimately.

TaylorsMummy · 30/06/2007 18:09

i can't get my head round the fact that a lot of the people willing to do this were born and raised in Britain.like the 7/7 bombers.they lived in luton or leeds, didn't they?? it's just madness.so frightening.

Blandmum · 30/06/2007 18:22

Thankfully no passingers were injured. It sounds as if this was similar to the suspected bombs in London. Could be a pattern, or it could be copy cat. Glad that they have the suspected perpetrators

jambuttie · 30/06/2007 19:40

sky news have just said unconfirmed explosion has happened at heathrow too WTF!!!

this is getting way to close I am in between Edinburgh and Glasgow(livingston) and am feeling uneasy can only imagine what you guys in Glasgow are feeling

jambuttie · 30/06/2007 19:59

appears to be a car fire at heathrow

chipkid · 30/06/2007 20:00

my dh flies into gatwick and heathrow tomorrow I am sooo worried

UCM · 30/06/2007 20:02

Its fundamental belief in Islam unfortunately. The extemists are recruiting more these days just as the BNP are.

It's very very sad.

suzycreamcheese · 30/06/2007 20:02

taylorsmummy..why glasgow?.

i was wondering if it was the rendition flights going through nearby prestwick (another scottish) airport?

and agree with your blair comment too!

fuzzywuzzy · 30/06/2007 20:07

No it's not a fundamental belief in Islam, it's a fundamental feeling of utter hatred.
I have a fundamental belief in Islam, it consists in the belief in the oness of god the belief in the Prophets and and the belief that you cannot go round killing people left right and centre becasue it is agaisnt the laws of Islam.

I can't see what these people are getting from this, I work in central London, I'll carry on going to work, and I guess I'll have to readjust my hijaab now too, thanks to these freaks.
