Surely she has a team. How did no one spot that?

Call me cynical, but if they're saying there is no hidden message then I believe them. Because I think she was saying it loud and bloody clear with that jacket. She doesn't care.

Do you think it was maybe a bit deeper than that? A message intended for her husband, or WH aides? Maybe they told her to not make the trip - and it was “I don’t care what you say”?

It's a complete debacle. This whole presidency, The First Family , if you wrote all this in a book it would be dismissed as ludicrous and too unrealistic to even give any attention to. I don't even know what to think anymore. I'm just agog.

It’s deliberate I think and probably she was told to wear it by her husband. A two fingered salute to the media. I think she’s controlled by Donald Trump.

Maybe it’s directed at him? Perhaps he tried to dissuade her from going? As she released a statement that was in opposition to his policy on Sunday.

I just read this on the BBC news page and knew there would be a thread.
Whatever the reason, it is distasteful at best. No-one wears a slogan like that by accident, especially not in the public eye.

Maybe its just a dig at the press.

Is that a coat that was already on the market with the slogan or something that would have been custom ordered?

The thing is, reports are that she has been petitioning HARD inside the White House, to the extent that she's had 'formal' private conversations with DT about this - and urged him to take immediate executive action. She's released statements that go as far as they could, for a woman in her position, to condemn the action. For someone who looks catatonic at all state occasions, and couldn't bear to move to DC until she absolutely had to, that's a remarkable level of political engagement.

This is probably a PR move to act as a distraction. Instead of reporting what is really going on they make it about her coat.

Do you think she's having a nervous breakdown? What ever you think of her, she wasn't prepared for all this when she married him. The pressure must be off the scale.

Apparently she was wearing it (and was photographed) when she boarded the plane at Andrews. She wasn't wearing it when she arrived in Texas, or on the visit, so we must conclude that an aide took one look, freaked, and burned it. She's completely destroyed her only moment of credibility.

Well at least then it’s not something she has deliberately had made to send a message. She can pass it off as having borrowed a friend’s coat. I didn’t think it looked like her normal style.

If it was worn deliberately, it has to be directed at DT, surely? I simply can't believe it was directed at children (but that's my rational head). She's noted for being fiercely protective about her son.

I think it is an easy distraction.
