Is it time to differentiate tittle tattle from 'In the News?'

I'm not sure if I'd define Jade Goody's pregnancy or Sarah Beeny worship as news.Perhaps there should be a new topic in the same section called something like human interest or showbiz goss.

to insitgate this on mumsnet, we should probably get the rest of the media to differentiate first. Seeing as a large proportion of what is reported by newspapers/radio/tv IS just tittle tattle.

yes we really should have a sub section 'in the news. Entertainment'

quite frankly i am thoroughly sick of seeing celebs as newsworthy items. George michael new tour the other day? i mean holy living Moses. Robbie williams out of rehab. I'm sorry? that's news?

yes lets start a trend bring back NEWS

yeh, gossip, trivia, chitchat section or something...

thought bbc 'news' site does carry all /most of the examples given as celeb / human interest......

can we have a "bored women pointlessly and somehow rather obscenely emoting about things which can't possibly concern them" topic? it might help to alleviate confusion.
