News

Is it time to differentiate tittle tattle from 'In the News?'

I'm not sure if I'd define Jade Goody's pregnancy or Sarah Beeny worship as news.Perhaps there should be a new topic in the same section called something like human interest or showbiz goss.

new topic called sleb goss

ThatBeetroot · 10/05/2007 19:56

it was not in the 'porper' news - just the gossip - I guess - as I have not seen it

hana · 10/05/2007 19:57

her pregancy SO should not be in the tv news
junk tv

nickytwotimes · 10/05/2007 19:58

i think it was ever thus, though. remember the whimsical stories at the end of the news in the olden days? i do agree that some of these stories sit rather incongruously alongside tragic stories.

SoapOnARope · 10/05/2007 20:00

oooooh a topic pedant!

fannyannie · 10/05/2007 20:01

......oh dear I guess my FART thread comes under then.........even though it was in relationship to a 'serious' topic

penmack · 10/05/2007 20:03

fannyannie i loved your thread , perhaps that was regional news though

fannyannie · 10/05/2007 20:41

yes it was regional news..........perhaps we should have a topic for that too

rabbleraiser · 10/05/2007 20:43

I think there's news and there's current affairs.

Who's Jade Goody

bobsmum · 10/05/2007 20:44

How about just "gossip" or "Heat Magazine subscribers"

puffling · 10/05/2007 22:22

'oooooh a topic pedant!'
What a stupid reply. How is it pedantic to prefer not to see Jade Goody's pregnancy in the news section?

OP posts:
rabbleraiser · 10/05/2007 22:32

That was a bit ruff, puff. People can say what they want on here, without someone referring to their reply as 'stupid.'

puffling · 10/05/2007 22:38

Well if people can say what they want, then I think they're entitled to call a stupid reply stupid.

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 10/05/2007 22:39

I think she was being admiring

rabbleraiser · 10/05/2007 22:42

OK

Nice girl ...

DarrellRivers · 10/05/2007 22:44

Sometimes these days however I probably don't know my arse from my elbow

southeastastra · 10/05/2007 22:45

in the news is generally not a fast moving topic but news is news

DarrellRivers · 10/05/2007 22:57

Yes indeed SEA, In the News tends not to attract the massive threads apart from those relating to the recent events in the Algarve.
It is a small but exlusive group of thread titles posted by people trying to stir interest in politics or the state of the nation. Generally however , the most interest that can be mustered is which politician they would rather sleep with , Cameron. Blair or Brown
or the lifestyles of worthies such as Jade Goody

WendyWeber · 10/05/2007 22:59

Sarah Beeny was in the Guardian - hence "in the news"

Who are you, puffling?

southeastastra · 10/05/2007 23:13

grim

RustyBear · 10/05/2007 23:18

There used to be a current affairs topic as well as In the news, but it disappeared in the big Topic Reshuffle - I don't think it was very much used
