sorry meant to add link \link{url\news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/6574907.stm

i think the sentances are pathetic - jail someone for fraud for years but a suspended sentence and community service for this?? thank goodness the kids are away from the mothers.

im beginning to believe the likes of us who chose to have children so we can love, cherish and help them grow to be good people are becoming the minority. just have to walk through town and theres some girl calling her 3 year old a "fcking c*t" absolutely makes my heart bleed.

wikipedia entry on Lizzy

Some stunning comments by the judge and it would seem that she was found guilty.

Wonder if she has changed

harpsichordcarrier · 20/04/2007 14:19

lizzy bardsley is four years younger than me
!

gosh that face speaks volumes about her life

In that case cod you are saying that none of us should have an opinion on this case because none of us know the facts, probably most of us do not know exactly what is meant by culpability and harm and none of us know what the risks of them reoffending are?
That's codswallop!!
It sounds from what I have heard (via BBC news) they have had the children taken away from them which is punishment in itself, I hope for the childrens sake they are somewhere safe and in a loving secure unit. (Who would want to be up in that family unit?)
I personally think the people concerned do deserve to be jailed in my uninformed opinion. For people to think it is acceptable to behave in that manner is unbelievable. (What was the point of the girl keeping the DVD showing the fighting as well?)
Additionally in the sentencing, when the judge takes into account their remorse. Well of course they would be remorseful! You would be if you thought it would make a difference to your sentencing.
I am sorry to be ranting but this whole episode is sick and people who raise there children in that manner are sick as well.
I'll stop now probably because I am getting very boring....

harpsichordcarrier · 20/04/2007 19:08

to be fair to cod, Idon't think she was saying you couldn'T have an opinion if you didn't know the full facts etc, but just that it's hard to have an opinion

BigGitDad · 20/04/2007 19:39

Fair enough if that is the case.

compo · 20/04/2007 19:42

that wikipedia entry on Lizzie Bardsley or whatever her name is:
"She has posed topless for the Sunday Sport. Incidentally this issue recorded the lowest ever sales figure for the newspaper"

pmsl

That Lizzie Bardsley myspace has GOT to be a piss take. I don't believe for a minute she'd be blogging phonetically. Or using apostrophes of omission correctly.

northender · 20/04/2007 22:33

nightynight dh just rolled his eyes and muttered "had to be Swilly" when he heard this. Cod from what I heard, the magistrate referred it to crown court because the max sentence they could've given was 6 months custodial and they felt it wasn't enough.

Nightynight · 20/04/2007 23:00

lol northender, that must be the reaction of anyone who's lived in plymouth I shd think!! swilley or the Street flats.

northender · 20/04/2007 23:15

I guess they'll come up with another name for it again soon: Swilly, Ham, N prospect unfortunately it's only the name that changes.

Nightynight · 20/04/2007 23:23

too true. the culture there is so depressing - this latest incident doesnt even shock me, which is shocking in itself. And I met people there that I really liked, but they were all f**d up in their heads.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 21/04/2007 19:45

And please can someone explain how a suspended sentence is a punishment, deterrent or whatever? It basically means you got away with it.

zookeeper · 22/04/2007 08:46

this case really upset me - cruel bitches - the smirking outside court said it all - they were even posing for photos. Remorse my arse.

Ihope the children were taken off them
