What's all this fuss about Kate Middleton's mum? All because she worked for a living! And had the temerity to say 'toilet'. FFS! They obviously have only contempt for real people.

Oh, they are utterly loathesome parasites, I hate them all. And we spend huge amounts on the feckers.

southeastastra · 19/04/2007 18:24

i'm quite surprised lots of you don't want them.

we'd only become more like the US without them. where only money is important.

motherinferior · 19/04/2007 18:26

Nah, we would be a proud and cheery republic.

It might be just about OK to become like I think Denmark, where they have bog-all money and have to cycle about.

monkeytrousers · 19/04/2007 20:39

Erm, doesn't Denmark have blood scking parasites as well..? I should just google it but I'm prepared to be wrong AND lazy

The Crown Princess of Denmark is an Australian called Mary, bagged herself a right handsome husband even if he got a lot of stick when he was younger from the Danish due to his attending Harvard (cue chorus of "what is wrong with Danish universities?")

Her parents (Scottish mum) both worked at Tasmania University IIRC and her dad is a professor. Wonder if that would me more pleasing to the horsey hooray crowd.

Kate is lucky to be out it.

Our Royal family need to get a grip on reality and get jobs, unless their bums are to grace the throne (or toilet.)

Spidermama · 19/04/2007 21:51

My mum tried to drum into me I ought to say 'lavatory' not 'toilet', 'napkin' not 'serviette' and 'what' not 'pardon'.

Obviously it stood me in great stead at the rough comprehensive in Aberdeen she sent us to.

It's all a load of bollocks. I've been left with a bit of tension each time I am about to say any of these words. Very irritating.

WideWebWitch · 19/04/2007 21:53

I'm with the up against the wall brigade.

TwoIfBySea · 19/04/2007 22:13

What does it say about my family that I was taught to say "bathroom!" I used to get laughed at for asking to go to the bathroom!

dumbymummy · 19/04/2007 22:16

Agree with Callisto in one of the first posts. You cannot seriously believe that the fuss about KM's mum was fabricated by the Royal Family???? Get a grip on modern media methods, for God's sake. They're using you, OP, and you're buying into it.

casbie · 20/04/2007 09:52

"bathroom" is an americanism - boo hiss!

why restrict it the higher language to lavatory? why not WC, watercloset, open-hole-down-the-inside-of-a-castle (they used too let it build up and then move castle - yuck)!!!!!

Lovecat · 20/04/2007 13:56

Suejonez - I always thought George I's claim to the throne was a little bit dodgy too?
see first bit of this

Think this snobbery thing has been taken and run with by certain sections of the media (the Daily Mail seems to have been rubbing its hands with glee in particular).

I remember back in 1981 (15 at the time) reading that Diana was expected to address Charles as 'sir' when they spoke and thinking wtf is she putting up with that crap for! I mean, if any bloke said that to you, you'd just laugh at him, wouldn't you??

suejonez · 20/04/2007 19:42

Ooh yes George I, I forgot abou him, he was someones cousin about 14 times removed wasn't he? But importantly he was protestant

mogwai · 22/04/2007 12:00

I feel sorry for Prince William. What the hell is he supposed to do? He gets one life and he has to spend it as heir to the British throne with Charles as his Dad and all the hype of Diana as his mother.

I don't give a toss if he spent £11,000 on a bar bill. His life must be hell.

monkeytrousers · 22/04/2007 12:32

I do feel sorry for them, but that's more reason to scrap them really. Whey you have journos saying KM would have 'known what she was getting into,' like you do when you fall in love, it's just a rationalisation for making these people lives a living hell. I wouldn't swap places with them for all the world, it's just too cruel and for that reason we should cut them loose and give them a chance to get on in life, without the press using them to unearth our, and their, worst prejudices.

OP posts:
mogwai · 23/04/2007 11:37

you're probably right. They have wealth, they'd be ok.

Actually, yes, SCRAP THEM!!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 23/04/2007 15:54

It would be like releasing them back into the wild!!! Good idea.
