While discussion is almost over I have set up this thread incase anyone wants to post any comments to posts in the previous thread.

OP posts:
Looby4 · 16/08/2017 12:18

Sorry - which DM story please? Can't see comments on yesterday's one...

Ta1kinPeece · 16/08/2017 12:23

the recent one about the "foundation"
comments are at the bottom below the web plugs

Gingernaut · 16/08/2017 12:24

There are rare disease charities already.

www.raredisease.org.uk/

This new 'charity' that's being proposed will attract money from these other good causes and money will be lost to administration costs.

This is such a bad idea......Sad

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/08/2017 13:00

Some of Smith-Squire's comments are a little ironic

Very diplomatic of you, Android Wink

I'd have said "nauseating" myself ...

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 16/08/2017 21:46

Looks as though the funeral was today (from comments onCharlie's Army), so we will soon know if rumours of a Daily Mai exclusive are true.

FlakeBook · 17/08/2017 13:35

Yes I gathered that too.

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 18/08/2017 12:35

If its true the story has been sold to the Mail I expect it will be a 'special' feature in the Mail on Sunday.

Ellie56 · 20/08/2017 13:56

Nothing in the Mail this weekend. Or any other rag as far as I can see.

Ta1kinPeece · 20/08/2017 15:38

Heaven forfend that they have actually realised how incredibly bad that deal would have looked
and that they need to knuckle down and get the money into a ringfenced bank account before the accusations of cashing in start to build
and maybe HMRC have pointed out that VAT, tax, PAYE, pension and a few other registrations would be a good idea

sadly the meejah that whipped up the waves will not report where they crash

Sostenueto · 22/08/2017 17:49

Isn't it odd that there is simply nothing at all in the press? Confused

Ta1kinPeece · 22/08/2017 18:29

Nothing at Companies House or the Charity Commission either ....

I hope for their sakes that they are now being properly advised.

Ta1kinPeece · 23/08/2017 11:40

Bradley Lowery Foundation was registered as a Charity yesterday

Ta1kinPeece · 23/08/2017 15:52

Latest Private Eye discussing Alison Smith-Squire getting paid by the Sun behind the back of the parents again, on top of the money she negotiated for them from the Mail.

They were just pawns in a game.

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 23/08/2017 19:19

I think we suspected as much Ta1kin.Sad

Sostenueto · 24/08/2017 14:45

Bloody tragic really being used like thatSad

Ta1kinPeece · 24/08/2017 22:04

Oh dear, oh dear

I just looked to see if the Gard charity has been set up and instead
found a "newspaper" story that Connie is now "advising" Alfie Evans' family at Alder Hey

and still no sign of where the £2m raised is sitting ....

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 24/08/2017 22:18

Would they be able to fund Alfie's treatment out of the money raised for Charlie?

Ta1kinPeece · 24/08/2017 22:23

android
They can do what ever they like with that money.
It is their money.
It is not earmarked in any way for Charlie / medicine / good causes
They could buy a yacht with it if they wanted.

GriefLeavesItsMark · 25/08/2017 00:51

It looks like alfie's army hasn't captured the public's imagination as well as .ca did. Not sure if this because people have got bored with sick babies, or the parents are deemed less worthy (too young, not as photogenic) of sympathy. But certainly don't seem to be raising as much money as ca.
Did appear to be holding a raffle offering a (mlm) mAscara as a prize.

Would love to know if feature world woman is behind cy offering advice.

MirandaWest · 25/08/2017 06:45

I'm not so surprised that a charity doesn't exist yet. A boy died of cancer at my DCs school in 2014 and it took 6 months to set up a charity. I'd presume it would take time to set things up properly. Don't know what will be happening to any money donated in the meantime of course.

Ta1kinPeece · 25/08/2017 13:19

Miranda
I agree that setting up charities can be a PITA and take time, but this one is so high profile and should have so much money at the outset.

As a really positive outcome of the case, read this news story
www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-41037181

GabsAlot · 26/08/2017 09:50

all thy should do is offer words of support theyre not lawyers they shouldnt be advising the evans of anything

Ellie56 · 27/08/2017 13:29

Just how confident could you be with advice given by people who have shown themselves to be deluded over and over again?

I agree Alfie is not getting the publicity that Charlie got. Lets hope his case doesn't go the same way as Charlie's.

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 27/08/2017 14:16

Shown themselves deluded to whom? Not to Charlie's Army. I don't know the Gards or Alfie's parents, but they sound very young, and are probably desperate, and Connie could easily seem like a 'big sister' figure, someone who knows what they are going through.

Ta1kinPeece · 27/08/2017 17:20

I also would not consider Connie and Chris deluded
spectacularly ill advised
grossly manipulated
lacking scientific knowledge
but not deluded

however they are indeed the last people that any other family consult until the charity is set up with proper governance and responsibility
