one thing that puzzles me we already have 2 in May and 2 in April(sometimes March, depending when Easter falls) so another 3 in that region will make Spring very Holiday heavy!

Ridiculous idea. The most moaning you hear about is NHS and education and JC has offered a carrot here that will only serve to put more pressure on both (less teaching time running up to exam period, anti social payments for NHS working and/or reduced services).

I'm all for more bank holidays. One in September and one in late June would be better though!

Who wants a BH in November? Unless we go down the US / Thanksgiving route (not our festival) and make it a holiday retail extravaganza to keep the economy afloat!

Or we could celebrate the day that William the Bastard acceded the throne...whoops, that's 25th Dec, so already a statutory BH 🤔

SNP decided a few years ago that St Andrews day should be a national holiday. Might be on the calendar as a "holiday" but schools are open, banks are open, life carries on exactly as any other day.

Another one in the Edinburgh festival would suit me and be great for Scotland .

I don't want more bank holidays, I'd prefer fewer, and more time added to my holiday allowance that I can take when I want to, and not when everyone else is off too.

I'd do away with the early May, late May, and late August bank holidays and keep the rest but add the 3 to holiday entitlement so everyone gets a minimum of 23 days off FTE.

Gimmicky nonsense.

As it is, BHs have become so much more like ordinary days, with so many things still being open, they are beginning to come a bit pointless anyway. If there were even more, I presume they would get even more ignored.

As so many others have said, it doesn't benefit anyone without a strict ruling these are in addition to the minimum holiday allowance, it just takes away flexibility of when you can use your holiday, and means that dc would barely do a full week at school between February and May half terms.

Well it wouldn't mean extra holidays for many really will it? Infact it could well lead to just created inflexibility for those people who have holiday allowances which inc bank holidays. And to have so many in Spring isn't great either.

For schools it would be a pain - spring for exam years is the worst time ever to have extra time off (if they didn't already fall within school Easter holidays) as the GCSE and A level students really do benefit from time in school with their teachers!
And for teachers/school staff - well they still have to offer 195 days a year of education, so BH won't be extra, they will have to cut holidays elsewhere to fit them in.

I thnik its great, finally the white indigenous people of England will be able to celebrate ST GEORGE and be PROUD of our WHITE HERITAGE..
