I hate all this medicinal crap my friends little boy was dying of cancer. Right up until before he died he had arseholes linking cannabis oils been able to cure it on his FB wall.

It may be good for pain relief but there is no one universal cure for cancer and if there was it's not cannabis oil.

I don't completely disagree OP. I wouldn't be surprised if booze costs the state much more than any other drug, in money, manpower and time. And I'm pretty certain it's the only drug involved in most of the fights taking place right now on my home town's high street!

If my neighbour is drinking alcohol it doesn't fill my flat with rancid smoke. If my neighbour is drinking alcohol it doesn't magically pour down my children's throats while they sleep.

Have you ever taught a child who stinks of cannabis? I have, many times. I've never taught a child who stinks of their parents' alcohol.

Millions, if not billions, of people manage to drink alcohol without becoming violent (myself, and everyone I know, included).

My cousin ended up being commited due to cannabis related psychosis. Like all substances ingested by humans, it has wildly differing effects on different people. Like all substances, people use it inappropriately - a colleague of mine was hit by a drug-driver.

Are you suggesting that alcohol should be made illegal? Or cannabis legalised? Or both? Either way, a minority would do stupid things whilst under the influence of either substance.

He has multiple convictions for assault and dv. He punched my neighbours elderly father in the face because he parked too close to his van.

He is paranoid and aggressive. He spends all his money on drugs and resents paying CM for his dd.

Not saying alcohol is any better but please don't think cannabis is actually a nice drug. It's not.

I don't drink, as it turns me into a different person. I'm vile when I'm drunk. I know a lot of people who're the same, yet they still go out drinking every weekend, are vile to people (and in general, never seen someone just stoned piss themselves) and would never admit they have a problem with alcohol. I think op's point is that alcohol is the golden boy substance, that never gets the proper criticism it should, and weed is the scapegoat substance that gets tons of flak every time it's involved in a crime (or even a misdemeanor).

I don't think one is worse than the other, for a start different people will react differently. Those with mental health issues or violent tendancies should probably avoid both. I think both should be legal, but both subject to sensible regulations and tax. Different strokes for different folks.

My DH has schizophrenia he's been told by his cpn and psychiatrist his previous cannabis use is probably a factor. DH agrees with them.

I've been hospitalised before. Most the male patients I've been in with (including DH) have cannabis use is common.

There aren't any unbiased long term studies, tobacco industry competition paid for those we use.

+DixieNormas And if he was a heavy alcohol drinker he would probably be on the streets. Everything in moderation. Actually many heavy drinking tramps have severe mental illnesses, as with cannabis sometimes it may be linked to the drug, or it may be because such people gravitate towards addictions.
