Alcohol as usual. That vile, toxic car-fuel like substance which is far more dangerous than the medicinal herb that is illegal because of racism (google it).

So? Do you think science should be based on anecdote then?

I couldn't give a shit about the science, I do care about the people in my life it has affected.

I always think cannabis apologists are just trying to normalise their own drug addiction.

Doesnt make that any more accurate tho, correlation does not mean causation

UnbornMortificado · 23/01/2017 18:01

I don't doubt the pain relief qualities, I don't even doubt some people can use it in moderation.

Others can't and it's these people that destroy theres and others lives.

I'm hardly going to judge someone for smoking it, god knows I've had plenty demons of my own but making out it's harmless is a kick in the teeth to those who have suffered because of it.

Sorry if that's hit a nerve.

I think that's proved my point.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 23/01/2017 19:18

It's hit no point with me Unborn I dont use the stuff but think its illegality causes more issues than it solves

UnbornMortificado · 23/01/2017 20:15

Sorry Just that was actually quite uncalled for and I do apologise.

I've just seen lives ruined and my youngest daughter hurt with cannabis partly to blame. I do take the subject a bit too personally.

Again sorry.

Here here ShoutOut!
Tax the absolute shit out of it and reap the benefits.

No problems Unborn I didn't take it to heart Smile

I'm sorry you've had personal problems dealing with the underside of society but a lot of problems like I said stems from its illegality, the fact that people who wouldn't dare touch other substances are put in the same social circle as those that have stronger drug addictions, if it was legal and taxed you would be able to buy it by potency and know what you're getting, we're constantly being fed biased reports to its effects.

I'm pro weed. I think it should be legalised and taxed and therefore taken out of funding criminals. Or even used medically for pain relief like certain states in the US. I don't smoke it myself.

I've lost three members of my family due to alcohol in the last two years, it often baffles me that such a dangerous drug is openly pushed through advertising everywhere.

Glitterywillows · 28/01/2017 17:56

My ex smoked a lot of cannabis never drank. He was physically violent sexualy violent and emotionally violent. He was a horrible man with a very bad weed habit. He was constantly paranoid and was a mess. Its taken years of councilling to get over the abuse I faced daily for 3 years. In some cases cannabis is harmless in others it is very harmful and is mentally damageing. The same as alcohol.

LadyIrisBarclay · 30/01/2017 18:29

My best friends sons both smoke weed. She doesn't see any harm in it and lets them smoke it in the garage.

I've known them since they were toddlers (now aged 18 and 21) Over the last few years they have changed from vibrant, motivated, cheeky young men into pale, dead-eyed and unkempt dullards.

Miffer · 31/01/2017 07:51

When I was a teenager I smoked weed and drank alcohol. When I was drunk I had unprotected sex, got into fights, and regularly threw up in alleyways. When I smoked weed I mainly giggled a lot and ate everything I could get my hands on. I do neither now, haven't touched weed in years and gave up alcohol 2 years ago. I know which I would prefer my teenagers to do though (although ultimately I would prefer them to do neither).

I watched a lecture by Professor Nutt (the scientist who got sacked for using science rather than politics to craft his view on drugs). He said that a society that encourages alcohol has a moral duty to offer safer alternatives. I agree.

Miffer · 31/01/2017 07:54

I always think cannabis apologists are just trying to normalise their own drug addiction.

I agree, but I also think that cuts both ways when you (inevitably) bring alcohol into the discussion.

A friend of mine who drinks eight can daily complains about his 'depression and mental illness' every morning..and his 'mania and disjointed thinking' when he's drinking. people who drink less regularly call it 'brung pissed' and 'having a hangover'
