Woah! Really? Like shooting out a cannon ball surely.

marthamoo · 30/01/2007 15:41

You'd barely have time to get your knickers off.

Envy
wheresthehamster · 30/01/2007 16:27

That's just not FAIR.

TwoIfBySea · 30/01/2007 17:18

My cousin had all 3 children with quick labours, the longest, from first contraction until hello baby was 1 1/2 hours (the quickest just shy of 45 minutes.) Her poor dh had barely time to get to the hospital.

Of course there are people telling her that it is impossible. And unfortunately for the rest of the family who didn't have their bubs surgically removed like I did, it isn't genetic.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/01/2007 17:21

A friend of mine had a 36-hour labour, a 4-hour labour, and a 15-minute labour. Her husband caught the last baby.

Longlegs1972 · 30/01/2007 17:21

7 minutes, christ. I wouldn't have stood a chance in shaving my legs etc prior to going into hospital!

PinkTulips · 30/01/2007 17:26

surely she had twinges or something before that though?

eefs · 30/01/2007 17:39

I wouldn't be envious at all - really fast labours have much higher chance of damage during the birth as the body is not fully ready and is very traumatic for the mother.

Still though, 4 hours sounds just right...

Jelley · 30/01/2007 17:55

It does happen. A friend of mine had one contraction, went to the toilet, and gave birth unassisted on the bathroom floor. Not even time to call ambulance! Her dh came in to find her sat on the floor holding the baby.

paulaplumpbottom · 30/01/2007 18:04

Lol Longlegs, I thought I was the only one who was vain enough to shave my legs when my waters broke. I refused to leave the house until it was done.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/01/2007 18:07

OH they must have been contracting for hours and just not realised it.

moondog · 30/01/2007 18:11

Tech is so bored all alone in the basement surrounded by wires and humming computers that he has decided to join in.

Careful mate, you'll be on the sex threads with Nailpolish and Expat before you know it,swapping tips on particulalry sturdy makes of glass coffe tables....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/01/2007 18:13

Moonie! You aren't suggesting a threesome there, are you?

moondog · 30/01/2007 18:14

Tech, Naily and Expat.
That would be interesting eh?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/01/2007 18:18

Interesting in a 'freaky' kind of way. Wouldnt want to see the photo's or anything

sharmone · 30/01/2007 18:19

i went to hospital for a very late growth scan and i was 7 cm dialated and had noticed i was in labour! just though i was having the odd twinge!

NotQuiteCockney · 30/01/2007 19:09

My friend liked her four-hour labour best. She had gas and air, and it hurt less than the 15-minute deal. It did sound like she did most of her dilating in the 15 minutes, by the pain.

funnypeculiar · 30/01/2007 19:14

paulaplumpbottom and longlegs - I'm another one who refused to go into hospital until she'd shaved her legs ... like the m/w cared!

BettySpaghetti · 30/01/2007 19:16

When I had DD there was a woman on the ward who had her baby in about 40mins start to finish.

There is a downside to this - apparently very quick labours like that are not very good for your fanjo ouch.

paulaplumpbottom · 30/01/2007 19:54

I was in labor for 11 hours and it wasn't good for my fanjo. Don't think time matters in that department.

popsycal · 30/01/2007 19:55

erm i wasnt far behind with ds2...first contraction at around 6:55 - he was in my arms at 7:21...

popsycal · 30/01/2007 19:57

oh and having just re-read the thread - i must add that both ds2 and my fanjo were fine

Beauregard · 30/01/2007 19:59

My labour with dd2 was 55 minutes and i gave birth without medical assistance because it was so quick.
7 minutes ey though phew!
