Where do you think the Super Casino should be?

Although I'm not in the tourism industry anymore I still think Blackpool and the hoteliers will benefit, there are lots of developments happening already and the super casino will just add to what's already happening.
If it goes to the Dome it's just another attempt to cover up what a huge mistake that was in the first place.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree that Blackpool is the better choice. I mean how much of the countries wealth/industtry can we pack into the capital city. I think it's probably better for the country to spread the wealth. And,also, the residents in and around Blackpool are pretty enthusiastic, whereas I'm not sure everypone in Greenwich would be thrilled with the idea.

I guess I'm looking at the bigger picture. What is best for the UK, not what is best for the dome.

Agree with uwila - definitely Blackpool. With the Olympics there is enough momentum in London at the moment. It would be a real shot in the arm for Blackpool which has so much infrastructure already.

I can't believe it is even being debated. To me it was so obvious from day 1 that it should be Blackpool which wants to turn itself into the Las Vegas of the UK.

Not long now, I'm staying away from the prom there's bound to be loads of news peeps down there waiting for the result. If they choose London just because the dome is empty that's a shit reason imo, I think the majority of Blackpool locals would be gutted.

It will be the Dome, I saw a documentary recently about investment and the American industry is basically going to bankroll the Olympics.

It isn't needed. It may create some jobs but it will also increase the crime rate of that area. You only have to go to vegas or Atlantic city to see how seedy these sorts of places become. The only exception to that is Monaco and Blackpool certainly isn't Monaco.

why would a casino increase crime?

of course it will be the dome. what are they going to do with it otherwise?

and I don't think that a cassino will draw that many more people to blackpool.

Gambling encourages addictive behaviour and crime, am really very angry with this government for actively promoting gaming in the UK.

Re the crime thing. casinos make me think of organised criminal gangs, maybe that's just the movies but who knows. IMO I would imagine crime would increase due to people needing money to fuel a gambling addiction.
