Shooter/shooters still not arrested. People warned to avoid public spaces.

QueenLaBeefah · 22/07/2016 18:34

Bloody hell. Not again.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 22/07/2016 18:39

German Media talking of multiple shooters.

Rainbunny · 22/07/2016 18:46

I'm afraid this is the new reality in Europe. ISIS would like nothing better than to make Germans regret their refugee welcome and turn against muslims.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 22/07/2016 18:48

Some really scary footage on Twitter of a gunman outside McDonald's and of inside the actual mall. Seems like it's more than one shooter if the videos are genuine (which they seem to be).

P1nkP0ppy · 22/07/2016 18:48

Horrendous.
Beyond words really, apparently more than one gunman headed for the underground. Just hope that's wrong.

peppatax · 22/07/2016 18:49

It's terrifying. Before it seemed that terrorist attacks were so remote and targeted but now it's shopping centres, beach fireworks, bars, restaurants and indiscriminate public places.

AyeAmarok · 22/07/2016 18:53

McDonald's footage now on TV on BBC news.

This hell is just constant.

AllTheMadmen · 22/07/2016 18:54

Theweebaby I saw that, why would someone be filming a macdonalds like that?

areyoubeingserviced · 22/07/2016 19:00

I don't know what to say anymore.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 22/07/2016 19:11

I can only assume he saw a man with a gun and knew something was about to happen so decided to film it. Wouldn't be my first reaction to a gunman, I'd be running as fast as my legs could carry me.

It's all just so bleak at the minute, every time I turn on the news, it's another gunman on the loose, another city bombed to nothing, just constant never ending atrocities that we humans inflict on each other. We're supposed to be the most evolved species on the planet and yet we are seemingly incapable of living in peace.

Scuttle22 · 22/07/2016 19:11

This is too much. Sad

AlcoChocs · 22/07/2016 19:13

I really don't understand why someone would be filming MacDonalds just as the gunman arrived, and then carry on filming after he started firing.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 22/07/2016 19:15

I used to live in southern Germany and these attacks have made me feel particularly despairing.

How the fuck can we stop this? It's heartbreaking the loss of innocent lives, all over the world.

Scuttle22 · 22/07/2016 19:15

Because they saw him hanging around outside dressed all in black looking suspicious!

LitterBoxProject · 22/07/2016 19:24

I'm in Munich (city centre) and there's a constant stream of police vehicles and ambulances going past our house and a helicopter circling above. Scary. So glad DP came home from work early.

Savagebeauty · 22/07/2016 19:25

Bloody hell. Just about to book flights for ds and I to go to Berlin next month.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 22/07/2016 19:26

Just read on the guardian website that footage of the inside of the mall was from South Africa in 2015, not today's incident in Munich.

SalemsLott · 22/07/2016 19:33

Utterly terrifying Sad

PacificDogwod · 22/07/2016 21:38

At least it seems reports of a second shooting were not true.

8 fatalities now confirmed Sad

StealthPolarBear · 22/07/2016 21:40

Alcohol that's a very good question

FruitCider · 22/07/2016 21:41

There has been 132 terrorist attacks in the works so far in July 2016. Why the big fuss about Germany? Do those from non European countries not matter?

PacificDogwod · 22/07/2016 21:44

I wonder how many terrorist attacks happened in July 2006? Or 1996?

Is the world actually less safe now or do we only perceive it to be?

FruitCider, I don't think the events in Munich matter more or less than events in other parts of the world, however it is rather close to home. Literally, for me.
What is your definition of 'terrorist attack' btw?
I am not aware that the shooting in Munich has been attributed to terrorists at this point.

I suppose I feel for them because I have been there and DH has been there three times this year that I feel it. Its closer to me.
I felt the same when the cafe was attacked in Marrakesh, having sat there and had a taste for the country it affected me.
When I read about North Korea though, I also feel deeply upset, Its a case of very much out of sight out of mind, the whole country is a giant prison camp, with possible the worse humanitarian conditions and levels of deprivations on the entire planet. We do not hear of what goes on there because media black out. But Fruit, I am sure you feel as deeply for them as I do?
