A two year old was dragged into the lagoon by an alligator a few hours ago and hasn't been seen since.

It's so awful I feel like I can't breathe. I cannot imagine how scared he/she was and what the parents are feeling.

Accounts vary but apparently they were sitting on the beach either waiting for fireworks or having movie night. It's just too awful. I'm sure it was supposed to be a wonderful trip and now this.

I know the chances that child will be found alive are almost nothing, but I am hoping against hope that he or she is. I just cannot imagine.

Purple flags on the beach, or was when went. And no I didn't have a clue and yes we swam with everyone else sat on the beach. No one told us and it was only after that we found out that those flags mean dangerous sea life in the vicinity so could have been sharks, shoal of sting rays etc.

Fox news on twitter saying body now found. RIP little man.

passmethewineplease · 15/06/2016 21:12

I hope the family have all the support they need in place. Honestly I don't know how you'd start to recover from a tragedy like this. Sad

LeonoraFlorence · 15/06/2016 21:15

Reports say officials have recovered the boy's body Sad

PointlessUsername · 15/06/2016 21:17

Rip. How very sad.

His poor parents.

80Kgirl · 15/06/2016 21:18

Poor little boy. I feel for his parents.

lifesalongsong · 15/06/2016 21:19

Sky News reporting it too, I'd assumed alligators hunted for food, thank goodness for the parents that's not the case, a tiny tiny comfort that they will have their child back

LilacInn · 15/06/2016 21:32

So the wildlife guy just basically said they are going to continue picking off alligators one by one till they find the one that killed the child. What a travesty.

It's a shame the child died but things happen when you choose to be in nature. Just because property is owned by DisneyWorld doesn't mean it's completely sanitized of all life besides humans. Anyone who expects a 100 percent guarantee they won't be bitten by a spider, snake, alligator, mosquito with Zika virus or whatever in a subtropical climate teeming with such wildlife is deluded.

DoloresVanCartier · 15/06/2016 21:33

His body has been recovered SadSad

chocoLit · 15/06/2016 21:34

The wee soul has been found, intact bless him :(

BaboonBottom · 15/06/2016 21:35

Sleep well little lad.
I'm relieved they've recovered him for the parents, I just wish it had been different result.

They sometimes keep their food for later by stashing them under water under something

chocoLit · 15/06/2016 21:35

LilacInn if it were your DC or that of a loved one, god forbid, would you not want everything possible to be done to find him? I know I would. And I'm not ashamed to admit by whatever means possible in this case.

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2016 21:36

Intact? How strange

NeedACleverNN · 15/06/2016 21:38

Sometimes gators drown their victims and then store them until they are really hungry so he could be completely intact with no real damage

LilacInn · 15/06/2016 21:39

The child has been found. Killing additional innocent alligators is not going to solve anything, and if my loved one were killed it would make me feel worse, not better, to have the tragedy compounded.

People need to concede that other species have a right to life on earth just as we do. Sometimes people hit deer or run over raccoons with their car - and sometimes people get in the path of predatory animals.

ExitPursuedByBear · 15/06/2016 21:40

Yes they weight kills down on the bottom of the lake/river to return to. Well crocs do.

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/06/2016 21:42

They won't let the parents see him. Which suggests that he is not intact. I hope for them he is though.

GoofyIsACow · 15/06/2016 21:52

How utterly horrific :(

Msqueen33 · 15/06/2016 21:54

So very tragic. For me even a no swimming sign is there for a reason but I imagine if the kids are going on about paddling, in the holiday spirit you don't always fully comprehend. Such a sad thing to have happened.

LilacInn · 15/06/2016 21:57

Alisvolatropolis, what is your source for that information?

PointlessUsername · 15/06/2016 21:57

I read earlier the alligators that were euthanized where disceted.

I presumed that as alligators cannot chew you would be intact inside them.

It's such a tragedy.

OfficiallyUnofficial · 15/06/2016 21:58

Just horrifically sad, I hope he wasn't too scared, I hope he didn't understand.

JeanGenie23 · 15/06/2016 22:01

Absolutely horrendous. A momentary lax in judgement which has tragic results.

Poor soul Flowers RIP

MrsOs · 15/06/2016 22:07

When I heard this early it made me feel sick. It's a bloody Disney resort! This shouldn't happen there. It's awful beyond words for that poor child and family.

katemiddletonsnudeheels · 15/06/2016 22:08

Officially, I really hope this doesn't sound awful, but I think his death will have been mercifully fast, it's quite unusual for predators to have long drawn out deaths as the risk is the victim may fight and attackFlowers

(I know there are some exceptions but I don't think alligators are one of them.)

So sad Sad
