I'm sure many Muslims find this ridiculous and outrageous but there are probably some families who buy into this controlling, sexist culture. I'd imagine being part of the local community, Muslim families have to play along with these fundamentalist views. These families also need protection from the fascist Sharia movement. How can a group like this get government funding? Is there no political will to tackle this growing stone-age Islamist thinking For heavens sake .

I agree with you that a Muslim can easily live in this country if they accept the laws of this country. I have in mind the people who want to live by the laws of Islam when islamic behaviour conflicts with UK law and custom.

I agree with you Professor. I do worry what this country will look like for my dd when they grow up. Tbh what the world will be like as there is almost too much tolerance for outdated and misogynistic views from this religion for fear of being unPC.

My dd and dh are Catholic. I will be helping them with contraception when they need it as l know this particular belief is ridiculous.

It has been lovely and hot here this week and the amount of young girls wearing Sumner uniform with leggings underneath actually shocked me. It's usually such shitty cold weather that l had no idea not everyone was covering up just for the weather. A bit sad that young girls can't enjoy a bit of sunshine on their arms and legs.

Or swimming. I feed sorry for the girls head to toe in black swimming with their little pals in their mini mouse frilly swimsuits.

A friend teaches and said a little girl was in tears because she had forgotten the headpiece of her swim suit. My friend suggested that she could wear the suit and use a swim cap but no, the boys would see her neck. These are primary school children.

It's both absurd and cruel to teach little girls to be ashamed of their bodies.

And we should think long and hard about our collusion in this unkindness.

Let those who rabidly follow these ideologies go and live where their rules are considered normal. Certainly no concessions should be made in our western society.
