Turkey takes back a non-Syrian migrant who has crossed into Greece and 'replaces' him/her by sending Greece a Syrian refugee, on a one-for-one basis

The EU pays 6 billion Euros to Turkey

The EU agrees to permit Turks to travel visa-free within the EU from June 2016 (instead of previously agreed 1 Oct 2016)

Turkey's full EU membership is fast-tracked.

So, does the EU accept Turkey's deal or say 'No Deal'?

I think we are on a very dangerous track but Turkey appears to have all the aces. But it's like being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

I think we are not going to come out with anything we particularly like. Turkey is in many ways less ready to join the EU than years ago and it wasn't ready then. Goodness knows how it's going to comply with all the human rights stuff.

I don't think anyone in the EU cares that much about press freedom, or the oppression of the Kurdish minority in Turkey.

If vote to LEAVE the EU catastrophe, it wont be so much of an issue for us.

Latest reports are that there is no deal. Talks are continuing.

My view is that when you pay the blackmailer don't be surprised when he comes back to demand more.

Australia proved that the only way to deal with this is to say 'No'. As long as the EU takes people in more will come. The flow will not stop.

That does not mean we should not help genuine refuges. We should, along with France and America, as permanent members of the UN Security Council be seeking a solution to the conflict instead of hiding behind the skirts of the utterly useless EU. We should be using our combined diplomatic forces to persuade counties next to Syria to host the refugees an we should be establishing refugee centres for them closer to Syria. If we just ship the enture Syrian population out of Syria and distribute it across Europe, what will happen when the war in Syria ends? It will have no population left to rebuild the country.

And thinking practically, how will you identify a true Syrian when fake passports can bought, just as the Paris Attackers purchased theirs. Don’t think the economic migrants amongst them will leave willingly. There will be some horrific sights.

As for giving Turkey EU citizenship, we will be importing Erdogan’s war against the Kurds to these shores where we have already given many Kurds asylum. The prospect of Turks wandering visa-free through Europe with god knows how many ISIS in their numbers is genuinely terrifying.

If we just ship the entire Syrian population out of Syria and distribute it across Europe, what will happen when the war in Syria ends? It will have no population left to rebuild the country

One point it does show up, is how big of a problem non genuine refugees are, if this is the crux of their deal, ie to swop genuine Syrians for Economic refugees!

The tribes are turning against ISIS, just as Frank Gardener predicted they would. Channel 4 showed a long crocodile of ISIS fighters fleeing for their lives. This is when it becomes dangerous for us - when they return to their home countries - clutching a fake Syrian passport and given safe passage to Europe, via Turkey

It won't work. People won't want to stay in Turkey, so they'll just move again.

It was a dopey idea anyway.

Even if the EU had done a 'migrant swap' which in itself would have been illegal, the EU would still be faced with trying to accommodate millions of refugees and their families and you could not make the refugee stay in his/her 'assigned EU country' anyway unless you completely ditched Schengen.

It's a mess. It shows how useless the EU actually is when it's faced with a crisis. Even the ships patrolling the seas off Greece are under NATO, not EU, command.

This is Merkel's fault for saying Refugees Welcome. They saw their friends and family being feted by the EU and are now determined to come to the EU.
the Finnish and Norwegians have found that many of the migrants they have taken in have demanded to be flown back to their home countries, as their expectations of house, car, job, money etc have not been met and they are bored and cold.

No Deal. No way. Erdogan is a monster and has no place in the EU. I don't know why Cameron is so determined to let them join. There are 75 million Turkish people, how many will leave when they have visa-free travel? It will be an even bigger disaster than the current migrant crisis.

It's one huge mess brought on by those fuckers in Brussels and the bankers. Now noone knows what the hell to do.

No deal. I'm not surprised Turkey is asking for all that. They are effectively holding the EU to ransom.

Would I be right in assuming you are talking about Turkish immigrants in Germany who have come directly from some remote village on some Eastern mountain?

There are many perfectly integrated Turks in the UK, many of whom are highly educated. And Turks tend to be "white", many with green or blue eyes, so not sure what you mean by "they despise white women". Most look no different than Italians & Eastern Europeans.
