Sally was quite upset about that article. She has met Harriet Harman before and so there was no need to be pushy. The netmums discussion board is fairly recent and only a peripheral part of why netmums exists.
Having spent many long hours finding out every toddler group and other activity in my area and painstainkingly entering them into a computer programme it upsets me to read this sort of stuff.
Netmums aim is to get mums to access LOCAL support services available to them and to campaign on certain issues.
I am no longer involved with them as my life moved on and I didn't have the time to devote to my site
Those of you who say that netmums is rubbish. Maybe you wern't the one sat at home with a useless HV who didn;t have a clue how to start going about finding a local toddler group or NCT group or whether a particular support group for a condition your child has existed. Yes you can chat online, but nothing beats real help.
I don;t care whether their talkboards are better or not, they are newer, less busy and were set up in response to demand. The content of the actual website can be invaluable.
I set up my local site so other mums would not have to go through what I did after the birth of my dd. Maybe I should not have bothered.
