Hackney, the worst place to live in Britain?

It certainly is bad if you need the council to do anything. It's really bad. It is a place for criminals run by criminals. It also has some fantastic people, good houses and lovely green space. Sadly Hackney is losing a lot of the people a borough should be proud of.

I have to agree with you Goldenoldie! Although I don't particularly like Starbucks, I like betting shops a lot less. The planning department in Hackney is in meltdown. I was told that if I expected it to work our council tax would be unaffordable! By a man who works there. Basically they're useless. Recently Tony Blair said that it was what happened on your doorstep that affected your quality of life. Yeah. Drugs, guns, people smuggling, theft, illegal cars and illegal drivers. This is not including the anti social behaviour. This is really on our doorstep and last summer we could not get into our house without wading through gangs of people smoking drugs, throwing rubbish around, playing music and shouting at each other. The council's attitude is becoming increasingly clear. It's so sad because Hackney COULD be a good place to live.

"Vibrant" always means "high crime". Depressing. Live somewhere nice.

I give you Nicola Sturgeons constituency of Govanhill

It's so bad she relocated her constituency office out of the constituency.

You know this thread is twelve years old?

I was reading the first few pages completely baffled (happy Hackney resident) till I realised!

FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 00:56

oh, I thought "vibrant" was code for "more overcrowded than most parts".

I know the thread is ancient but I'd be interested to know what people think of Hackney now, several years on?
