I've only heard a little about this so will be interested to watch this.

At min just listening to a man who kidnaps children for a living and who sold his son for £500.00

OP posts:

i saw them on tvam they said, 'it isn't just chips, there are tuna and salad rolls and sunseed crisps too' haha

calebsmum · 18/09/2006 15:26

Sorry but if I sent my kids to school expecting them to spend their money on a healthy lunch i'd want to floor these women for then taking their money and buying them chips everyday! I mean come on, how many orders are they going to be taking for tuna rolls and salad??

EmmyLou · 18/09/2006 16:23

Stand firmly behind Jamie Oliver on this. Probably the same kind of women who take their kids out of school because the teacher told them off and 'no one does that to their child' kind of thing. Irresposibility and moral laziness masquerading as motherly protectiveness.

Liquidise them all and make artery clogging burgers out of them.

JoolsToo · 20/09/2006 12:50

did anyone discuss the further implication of these parents flouting a school rule and the message THAT sends out to the kids?

Fimbo · 20/09/2006 12:55

We used to have a chip van that sat outside school at lunchtimes in the 80's

munz · 20/09/2006 12:56

ooh gonna put it on - can't see how they can justify it myself so will watch wiht intrest!

munz · 20/09/2006 12:57

not on - was it good?

staceym11 · 20/09/2006 13:04

i cant believe these women, one quote i read was something to do with the fact that the kids dont want to eat the 'rubbish' served up in schools now and its better for them to eat chips than go hungry.

but if they werent being given chips then they would eat the healthy stuff which is better for them.

all i can say is these mums are severely uninformed and need educating, i feel sorry for the kids who dont really know much better, oh and the other parents who are trying to do right by their kids and havign it flouted by these brainless morons!

Philly · 20/09/2006 13:06

Nobody seems to be asking her why she doesn't just give them packed lunches ?

TenaLady · 20/09/2006 13:06

This is typical of the British media, giving airtime to such an idiot. I think all mums should boycott watching the programmes she appears on. Cant get her message over then.

TenaLady · 20/09/2006 13:08

Stacey I agree with you. I am also insensed at the fact that what they were doing are outwardly flouting any rules with regards to the running of the school.

Whilst at school they are to follow their rules not have interferring mothers handing God knows what through the railings what message is that giving the kids.

staceym11 · 20/09/2006 13:13

it makes me think that as kids cant smoke in school will they next be doing this with cigarettes?? same principal i think!

JoolsToo · 20/09/2006 13:15

forget the chips - they're showing their kids its ok to break school rules!

munz · 20/09/2006 14:51

lol, quite agree with u all - infact was havign this chat with mum the other day - if the kids don't want a packed lunch - and lets face it it's not coolk for a 14/15 year old to get out their lunch box is it?? what's wrong with mums chucking some healthy food in their bags for lunch - fruit, yoghurts if it's not too hot ect. I know that's what we used to do at school - either that or (I confesss go to the bakery and get a turkey bap with lashings of mayo in it! lol)

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 14:54

They're a walking advert for why chips are not something I want to eat daily. I mean, who wants to look like that?!

Beetroot · 20/09/2006 15:00

it is not to do with the food. It is to do with not being consulted about the change of rule that is stopping kids go out at lunchtime. they say the school should've discussed it with them first. now their kids are moaning about long queues and not enough food.

they stopped kids going out at lunchtime because of the litter they left after going to the chip shop and children's general behaviour outside school at lunch time.

'this is not about us against healthy food, like they've been saying, it's about how people change the rule'

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 15:02

It IS about food, and the fact that a lot of parents like this just can't be arsed w/their own kids.

Beetroot · 20/09/2006 15:05

thye say not expat...

munz · 20/09/2006 15:07

ah ok - is this a rule they don't like then or rules in getneral?

(what I mean is if the school changed the rules on uniforms for arguements sake (got rid of em) they'd not be ok with that if they weren't asked?) iycwim

perhaps the school in question should offer more food (not choices just quantity) as for the times - in our school we used to do first and second sittings half hour each in the dinner hall.

Wordsmith · 20/09/2006 15:10

here's how they explain it . Although I'm not sure it makes sense.

munz · 20/09/2006 15:24

"Let Jamie Oliver come in here and tell me this is junk food," he says as his assistant spatulas a slice of cod middle from the fryer.

classic quote! lol. fair enough the cods healthy it's the way it's cooked! lol.

chipmonkey · 20/09/2006 16:44

I agree with Jools. These parents are being irresponsible and demonstrating that its OK to break school rules if you don't agree with them. I would be LIVID if I sent my kid to school with money to buy a healthy lunch and one of these silly cows went out to buy them a greasy takeaway. We don't have a school dinner system in Ireland and I would love if there was healthy hot food availabe for my kids at lunchtime.

hatjam · 21/09/2006 13:00

it doesn't make any sense - these women are going out of their way to feed their children crap. does this count as neglect or actual abuse?

dreamcatcher · 21/09/2006 14:01

This whole thing just makes my blood boil.
They're teaching kids to break rules rather than try to negotiate a change. They're teaching them it's ok to eat crap. And not just their own kids but other peoples! If a man was standing selling sweets to kids through the fence he would probably have been arrested by now.

dreamcatcher · 21/09/2006 14:07

Also, this rule was changed to stop the littering in the town. I'll bet it was the same kids dropping the litter who are now getting chips from these women. Maybe if they tried to teach their kids to be more responsable the rule would never have needed changing in the first place.
