The silence is deafening

When will those who provide economic and military support to Israel speak up in the strongest terms and condemn the indiscriminate killing of civilians in Gaza. Obama, Cameron (peace envoy - ha) Blair.

It is an Orwellian nightmare. The 'Israel's right to defend itself ' mantra seems to be justification for wiping out Palestinians.

It is scary and so very, very wrong.

It's been the case for years. It's terrifying if you think about it.

Oh change the record. The world is finally waking up to Israels lies and the massive injustice being perpetrated against the Palestinians.
Thanks to social media and some decent journalism, people can now see for themselves the slaughter of children on a beach, the babies cut from their dead mothers, the hospitals bombed.
They are starting to see the reasons behind the conflict too. The land theft, the brutal blockade.
'It's all Hamas' fault' is wearing a bit thin.

Got to run out the door but just agreeing fully with the OP and declaring my 'bias' towards human rights.

So, backinthering, you support terrorism then ?

There were people who called Mandela a terrorist. No, he was fighting for what was right, just and fair.

What a disingenuous question.

Millipede your post would be laughable if it wasn't so scary that people like you are so blinkered to the evil Israeli actions.

There were some people herded into a ghetto in Warsaw. I wonder whose situation is most akin to them today?

I do rather think your views are a little blinkered Millipede. There are also many Jewish people who do not support your viewpoint.

Milipede, I'm biased in favour of children having the right to stay alive. Having the right to go to hospital without being shelled or bombed. Having the right to shelter from war in a UN school without being shelled or bombed.

I find it difficult to understand why anyone would disagree with that.

Israel is stoking anger against their country. Quite knowingly. How does that help to bring about peace and end the rocket attacks? It doesn't. Israel is not trying to defend its people, it is ramping up the situation very dramatically. Why would that be?

There can never be peace in the Middle East because the powerful oil rich gulf states don't want there to be.

They could have recognised Israel and offered decent homes to the Palestinians 40+ years ago.

Hamas only exists because no one else looks after the Palestinians. To us they are just terrorists(freedom fighters), but I believe to their own people they provide social services and welfare in a very dysfunctional land.

America could and should of kept the Israelis in better order too, but had too larger Jewish lobby and no experience of war or terrorism on it's home soil.

American support for the IRA all through my childhood was equally disgusting.

I'm too young to know the details of how exactly the state of Israel was founded, but I suspect it was a massive post war cock up with a fair dose of colonial values thrown in. I'm sad to say I've given up any hope it will ever be sorted.

I suspect the rise of communism distracted the West after the Second World War and Putin's antics are distracting them now.

They are someone else's children, they matter far less than European or American children Sad&Angry

Israel is not evil I urge you all to actually read up on hamas policies you may learn and understand why israel is taking action, and also in reference to the op question re silence, obama Cameron etc, know that israel are not in the wrong here !,

'The silence is deafening'.

Our leaders can do nothing else. The whole world has discovered that they are the Emperor With No Clothes, and the contrast with their stark warnings to Putin just makes it more evident.

Millipede, what would you call shelling a hospital, or a UN school where refugees have gathered? And which the Israeli military had the co-ordinates for?

If not evil, what?

Millipede I've read plenty thanks. I've followed the conflict for 20 years. I have however drawn wildly different conclusions to you. Perhaps it's you who should do more research?

Millipede I too have read and again, drawn different conclusions to you, along with people like Michael Rosen, among others.

Millipede I have read up on the history and I have actually studied it. There is no question in my mind of the rights and wrongs of the situation. My fear is that certain influential states are standing by and letting it happen as they did in Srebrenica. IMO they too have blood on their hands.
