here is Part 6. Nearly time for a new one.

The bbc website has it live.

Roussette · 09/05/2014 09:42

here although they have just adjourned for a break so you will only see the SA emblem or whatever - till they come back

Thank you I was watching on sky 501 then pressing the red button for the interactive bit but it's not showing now.

YNK · 09/05/2014 09:47

Whether he knew it was Reeva, and whether or not she was in there for 15 minutes alive or dead, we know she was in there and that she was shot.
Whether it was her or him that did all the screaming, she must have been terrified!

I did not say he watched porn for an hour! He certainly accessed it though. Please stop misquoting me!
He says he took a shower, perhaps "drawing a bath" was another 'mistake' but he certainly spent a leisurely hour upstairs.
She was cooking a stir fry when he arrived, which takes about 5-10 minutes!
I would not feel appreciated if I was her!

I'm so sorry some of you have bad memories and experiences of the jury system.
Judge Masipa is a seasoned professional, and as such, she will do her best to bring justice to this case.
If found guilty she will not flinch from giving the sentence that fits both the crime and the SA system.
As it happens I have learned from this that a jury led trial does not give me the same confidence this does.

YNK · 09/05/2014 09:49

Free, there is (yet another) adjournment at the moment for the state to assemble some props.
We might only be back a short while before they stop again for tea!

Roussette · 09/05/2014 10:03

YNK I mean this in the nicest possible way - you are projecting somewhat. No one really knows what was going on and how long the bath was or whether she said 'take your time honey and come downstairs when you're read for a stir fry' - we just don't know.

Direct quote: "He goes for a leisurely bath and watches some porn upstairs! For a F*ing hour!"

My mind is boggling as to how that is being misquoted.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:06

They have set up a lazer to shine through the hole in the door, onto the impact point at 'E'. The court has entered that area to examine the set up closely, and see where the light beam touches the rear of the toilet block.

Nel places on records that we had an inspection of the cubicle, and they had the lazer aligning from B to E.

Roux puts on records that he assumes that he has tested all the other bullet holes for alignment, but he agrees, hole B hits E.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:07

Nel has also pointed out that the report has been dated after the testimony of the State Expert. So the report has been adapted to rebut, rather than just stating what he has seen.

Roussette · 09/05/2014 10:10

For the first time, Wolmarans is faltering. Nel obviously has a point to make.

OP posts:
LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:10

The Judge is clarifying this. He sent drafts, and then amends it and sends amendments on to the Defence.

This is the only report he's signed off.

voiceofgodot · 09/05/2014 10:12

YNK - Nel would have a field day with you attempting to say that that was not what you meant Wink I can now see that you actually meant "he was upstairs for an hour and for part of that time he was watching porn" but actually, the most obvious meaning is the one you claim to be a misquote.

Also, you should not impute whether or not it was acceptable for him to go upstairs for a bath from the information we have. Actually, in a mutually loving relationship which was not built on constant fear of reprisal, it might be possible to, you know, just go and take a bath without fear of offending the other person. You have no idea whether it was in any way a rude thing to do in the context of their actual relationship on that actual day. Of course, it could also have been rude and she could have been upset. We'll never know.

Back to the trial, I cannot BEAR to hear Nel interrogating witnesses like this. The same goes for Roux, this style of questioning just makes me squirm.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:13

It's taken a while, but we've got to Wolmaran has furnished the Defence with a report prior to this one.

Nel wants it.

Wolmaran says it's just for grammar that it was changed, and he wants his final report to be the one that stands.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:15

(When I'm looking for a relaxing evening with DH, I prefer for him to have a bath and a relax first. Don't want a stinky stressed husband when I'm in the mood.)

voiceofgodot · 09/05/2014 10:15

I don't know why he doesn't just agree to give him previous versions of the report, such as they may or may not exist.

voiceofgodot · 09/05/2014 10:16

Wolmarans hates him already.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:17

Me too. I get to a 'who's on trial here!' thing.

On the other hand, as people keep pointing out, they need this to be watertight. If there are mistakes over filing or reports, then they need to be clarified. Certainly, if there was a report that was filed before the trial started, and it differs in any way than the one that was filed after the prosecution witnesses, then they need to be able to assess the differences.

voiceofgodot · 09/05/2014 10:19

Wolmarans committing the cardinal admin sin of not saving different versions of the same document I do this all the time

StackALee · 09/05/2014 10:20

Although I agree that it could be interpreted as saying he watching porn for an hour it is clearly not what she said because of the full stop placement (An exclamation mark acts as a full stop, the capital letter in the 'For' marks the start of a new sentence. It's very clear).

"Direct quote: "He goes for a leisurely bath and watches some porn upstairs! For a F*ing hour!""

StackALee · 09/05/2014 10:21

ps, thanks for the link. I am finding it hard to locate the BBC coverage.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:21

It's second nature for me to save everything with a draft number and a date. But I'm in admin, and I'm a writer - in both, I need to know when each thing appeared.

This guy's a scientist. I feel a bit sorry for him.

He's made it pretty clear that he was never asked to alter his report to suit the defence case, which I think is reasonable. He's said it under oath.

LookingThroughTheFog · 09/05/2014 10:22

BBC is here if you prefer it.

voiceofgodot · 09/05/2014 10:22

I don't wish to get into grammar wars Stack but the starting of a new sentence in this context can be used for extra emphasis on the latter clause. As we know YNK does love a bit of extra emphasis...
