It's so sad. They still haven't found anything, but thinks it's crashed into the sea.

For anyone that hasn't heard

The pilot had a simulator.

member · 14/03/2014 10:06

That's what I came to ask Public Shock

ClifftopCafe · 14/03/2014 10:06

Wouldn't it be an unusual pilot that had a simulator at home?

livingzuid · 14/03/2014 10:07

I think it's the DM article I linked earlier that said friends and family said he was so dedicated he had a flight simulator at home. But yes it is odd.

member · 14/03/2014 10:09

Did the Malaysian transport minister confirm?

PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 14/03/2014 10:10

But i thought the pilot had been flying since the 80's with thousands of flying hours - why would he have a stimulator?

PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 14/03/2014 10:11

They said a pic was posted of the flight stimulator on his personal Facebook page

Jollyb · 14/03/2014 10:15

Even experienced pilots continue to use simulators. We have a friend who flies for Qantas and if he goes more than a few weeks without flying he has to go back in the simulator.

meditrina · 14/03/2014 10:15

I don't see why it's relevant that one of the pilots mayor may not have a simulator at home. After all, he's one of the two people on board who everyone knows is capable of flying and manoeuvring a plane.

SinisterSal · 14/03/2014 10:16

Thank you, meditrina will do. Must have missed it

hellokittymania · 14/03/2014 10:16

It's a shame MAS shorthaul flights don't have wifi....

PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 14/03/2014 10:19

Somebody else could have been using the stimulator, who knows?

NickNacks · 14/03/2014 10:21

Arf at stimulator

Rooners · 14/03/2014 10:22

Oh God yes PLEASE stop saying stimulator Grin

SinisterSal · 14/03/2014 10:22

My uncle was a pilot, he had a simulator, my teen cousins said that's how they learned - they followed him into the profession. So that in itself wouldn't worry me, on my v limited experience.

usuallyright · 14/03/2014 10:23

Pilots use simulators in regular training, but to have one at home is decidedly weird.

PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 14/03/2014 10:25

What's funny about stimulator, that's what its called isn't it?

NickNacks · 14/03/2014 10:26

Of course it's not!!!!

DowntonTrout · 14/03/2014 10:28

It isn't a sTimulator. It's sImulator. It simulates flights.

SinisterSal · 14/03/2014 10:28

No a stimulator is um, a 'marital aid' as it stimulates you

A simulator comes form the root similar I assume, as it simulates the flight experience

DowntonTrout · 14/03/2014 10:28

STimulatating is something else altogether...

Rooners · 14/03/2014 10:28

No, it's SIMulator.

As in the same root as simile, similar, same...

as in, it's similar to flying an actual plane.

It does not serve a stimulatory purpose, unless you're into that kind of shit

Georgiesgirl · 14/03/2014 10:29

Lol

Rooners · 14/03/2014 10:29

x posts with everyone

livingzuid · 14/03/2014 10:29

Flight simulator not stimulator Grin

I just wondered why a pilot would have one at home as I thought they would practice at official ones at work and they must be expensive? And where would you put it! But obviously not that uncommon after all, I take it back.
