YY totally good for him I just wish we didn't live in a world (and this is a super-liberal western country compared to much of the rest of it) where a young man saying he has a boyfriend is "brave" and makes front page news. That part of it makes me kind of sad, TBH.

Was it about to be revealed in a tabloid so he beat them to it or something? It's a shame it's even news really, it's nothing to do with anyone but him.

I also don't get the 'brave brave' comment. I thought I was about to read that he had a terminal illness.

I don't think he is brave, tbh. I think it is probably something he felt he ought to do as the tabloids would catch up with him sooner or later. I expect he felt it was a massive chore.

19 is not a child in the UK. I have a DS who will be 19 in 2 weeks time, he is most definitely not a child. I bet if you asked a Tom Daley if he is a child, he would say no!

Good luck to him. Couldn't care less if he is straight or gay. None of my business. Just hope he is happy. (Same as I'd wish for anyone.)

I think it's a shame that he probably felt he had to make an announcement before the tabloids did it for him, at least this way he gets to control how it's said.

But I do agree that it goes to show its still an inherently homophobic society we live in that has created the situation where it's newsworthy that someone's in a relationship.

Ah, Life, a cat can look at a king and sure a middle aged woman can remember a time when the Soviet Union still existed a 19 year old was in my age range...
