Just heard this on BBC News 24.

I hope everybody is ok.

I'm just going to go and donate at my usual time next month.

I think people are so desperate to help, but not everything they think of will necessarily be helpful.

I have the urgent but absurd need to get these firefighters some hot tea Blush. I'll stay put.

Further to what Glaikit Scotblood's website says blood levels currently ok Scotblood

dramajustfollowsme · 30/11/2013 10:08

I love that there was a queue of people wanting to give blood. So often, because of football, Glaswegians get a bad press. This is much more accurate.

PacificDogwood · 30/11/2013 10:09

Well, it's both accurate IME Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 30/11/2013 10:09

Sorry I didn't mean don't go and donate. Just there are posts going around about emergency donation centres opening in George square. This doesn't appear to be the case.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 30/11/2013 10:10

Yes hope the kindness of those on the mosque nearby is highlighted too.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 30/11/2013 10:10

There is always a center in Nelson Mandela place.

GlaikitFizzog · 30/11/2013 10:12

FB posts I mean, sorry. I'm making a fist of what I was trying to say.

Ubik1 · 30/11/2013 10:12

Woke up to this news. Sad

Thinking if all the families affected this morning.

PacificDogwood · 30/11/2013 10:14

Glasgow Central Mosque, located close to the pub on the opposite side of the Clyde, tweeted: "Have told emergency crew that we r on standby & can make available mosque & volunteers to assist in any way to aid injured & emergency crew.

Yes, words are being chosen extremely carefully

RhondaJean · 30/11/2013 10:27

They have also said they are still regarding it as an ongoing rescue so there may still be hope.

Nicknacky · 30/11/2013 10:29

Think it's more that the world media that is on them that is making them choose their words carefully, and the fact it is a fluid situation rather than being a police helicopter.

GlaikitFizzog · 30/11/2013 10:32

I think you are thinking wrongly lisa. It's still early in the whole thing and tbf the questions the reporters asked were pointless. I can guarantee these guys aren't running the incident, but merely taking the Public face of it allowing those who are running it to do their jobs. The fact it's a police helicopter means that every police officer in Glasgow has colleagues directly involved. The chances of those officers and the pilot are the fatalities are high. Sir Stephen looked genuinely choked during the press conference.

All our emergency services are working hard on this. My thought are with each and everyone of them.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 30/11/2013 10:35

Was bbc not saying 3 people earlier now it is saying 1? Confused.

GlaikitFizzog · 30/11/2013 10:37

They did giraffes. But I think the 3 was from "sources". But the fact they have said to expect more means they know there are but next of kin need to be informed first.

PacificDogwood · 30/11/2013 10:37

I agree, Glaikit, they are being mindful of families who are hoping for the best and fearing the worst at this time.

I thought the blond man whose dad may have been in the pub also looked quite bewildered and lost.

This is were having access to news so fast via social media is not necessarily a good thing. They are now repeating the same things over and over again...

I may just go and deal with the leaves in my garden for a bit...

Yes I still have the BBC page open reporting 3

Nicknacky · 30/11/2013 10:42

Also consider that access may not have been gained to confirm the persons thought to be dead actually are. Whilst it may be obvious looking at them they do need to have life pronounced extinct, that may not have happened yet. In all likelihood the figure may be closer to six.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 30/11/2013 10:46

Sky news just tend to report any whisper of anything with out checking though
