what was in the news the day your child was born??

also, does anyone know a web site that gives archive news headlines for last year as i have not got a clue what happened the day ds was born and would like to put something about it in his scrapebook.

Rather topical for me. Ds1 was born 10 years ago last Wednesday and the day he was born, England were playing someone in Euro 96. I remember as all the midwives were sat around watching the match and told me off when I asked for someone to give me some lactulose to get me going again.

When DD1 was born, the Foot and Mouth epidemic had just started. And the day that she came out of hospital there was v hevy snow.

Not sure about DD2, but it was my mum's bday the same day!

With DS2, Becks and Rebecca Loos' txting affair. I read about 16 tabloids while I was waiting to be induced. Can't remember with DS1, although DH did buy The Times for posterity, so we have it in his 'special box'.

England beat Germany 5-1 the night before my cs with ds. We have the newspapers to prove it!! The ward let dh stay in to watch the match with me (we're both footy fans!)

I just typed 'news 8th august 2002 uk' into google and got that, no headliner stuff though.

When DD was born we were just about to bomb Iraq and when DS was born it was all about the London bombings! I'm a bit afraid to have anymore!!

I think madonna's kid was born the same day as one of mine

the bbc has a on this day archive but it isn't necessarily year specific

Ds was born a few days after 9/11 so it was all about that.

Tate Modern opened the day dd1 was born. (I only know because a friend sent me a postcard from there as a congratulations card.)

No idea about dd2, though she was born on St David's Day (but isn't Welsh).

I remember now, having looked at the BBC site. DD was born when the Holly and Jessica thing was just starting. DD was born 4 days after the girls went missing.

ds was born Feb 03 as Tony Blair gave orders to invade Iraq never thought it would still be going on and sooo tragically so

nothing exciting - a space shuttle landed safely and everyone was relieved and manchester united beat some european team (which dh had to keep popping out to watch!) if your ds was born recently, there's this site
