what was in the news the day your child was born??

also, does anyone know a web site that gives archive news headlines for last year as i have not got a clue what happened the day ds was born and would like to put something about it in his scrapebook.

DS1 was born early on the day of the Omagh bombings (just after midnight), so that was on TV on his first day of life in hospital.

DS2 was born 10 days before 9/11, so that is my main news memory around his birth.

I'm sure there must have been some happy news stories on those days.....

My bf's ds was born on the day that Sonia O'Sullivan won an important race - she knows this as all the birthing staff had disappeared from the ward and she could hear alot of cheering, and go-on go-on go-ons and hurrays from the room next door.She presumed that there was a much more exciting labour in progress there until they explained they were watching tv!

Knowing my fondness for elective CSs, you'll think I made this up. It's true, believe me.....

(DS was born in Vancouver, BTW. I insisted on a CS even though there was no 'medical' reason, although DS was horribley oblique at the end).

My OB did her evening ward round and entered my room brandishing a copy of the Vancouver Sun, whose headline was "CS rate 50% at St Paul's Hospital" (or somehting v similiar). She said, 'Now look at the trouble you've got me into!!'

Myra Hindley died the day ds was born. I didn't hear about it till the day after though, but I made dh go and check what time she had died so I could be sure it wasn't at the same time ds was born, lol.

Cilla Black's hubby died just after Ds2 was born.I only know that because I happened to be staggering back from a shower using the cot as a zimmerframe when the Sweetie/Newspaper trolly was doing it's rounds.
Not a clue for Ds1 and 3.
