Something bad happens and suddenly all these racist remarks on facebook

I feel terrible about what happened to that poor soldier. I was so shocked when I heard about it on the radio.

But why do people immediately start posting racist status updates starting with 'I'm not racist, I'm not against immigration' and then posting videos entitled 'Islamic infiltration in the UK'

I am going to get into rows with people over this and probably should delete my account.

Why do people think this type of terrorism has anything to do with Islam and why do people think we should start 'weeding out' people who do this. Terrorists don't even have to be residents of a country to carry out an attack.

What I mean is, surely the government cannot figure out who is likely to become a terrorist in any event.

Are people really so stupid that they immediately revert to xenophobia? It annoys me so much - they are adding to the problem with their bolleaux opinions.

At some point you will have to face the fact they we are being targeted by Islamic terrorists. They claim their cause is given them/inspired by Allah and they get their resolve from their deep belief in the afterlife he promises. That doesn't mean that all Muslims are terrorists, but to try and pretend that none are is just as irrational and biased.

At one time it would have been Christians doing the same kind of thing you know and claiming they were doing the Lord's work. It's not just Islam. It's just that it's mostly Islam at the moment.

I've cried watching the news, that's someone's son or dad lying dead in the road alone. Heartbreaking

It matters not a jot which religious group these people belong to or claim to follow. It matters than someone has lost their life in such a brutal and unjust way.

Most muslims are NOT terrorists - terrorists have any number of 'causes' that they use as an excuse. It has fuck all to do with religion.

BBC news says "According to senior Whitehall sources the people carrying out the attack were heard to say: "Allahu Akbar [God is Great]", (BBC political editor Nick Robinson reported). and most other news sites are reporting that the man was filmed in front of a crowd of witnesses saying ""We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you.".

A friend of mine is doing sterling work telling the racists on her Facebook feeds how stupid they are being, and linking to stories about April Jones and Dale Cregan to show that white people can also do bad things.

I see me blocking a couple of people tomorrow.

The attackers are not representative of most muslims pixel who would not condone in any way what these people did.

Now people are posting a picture which says

LISTEN TO US. CLOSE OUR BORDERS.

sigh. I suppose the answer is to hide and therefore avoid repeats of this.

I see some people taking action and responding to their racist friends and family or deleteing them. I also get the impression others are just happy to moan about it on a different social media site. Stand up for your morals - they are!
