Ouchee, poor mum. I hope he doesn't end up with any problems- he seems to be doing really well despite a dodgy start.

Ouch!

I assumed when I saw your title that he'd been a section.

I hope neither he or his mum ends up with long term problems. Very sad if this really has put her off having more - I suspect it was said light heartedly and deliberately quoted by the paper for 'colour'. Surely she'd be offered extra scans and a planned section after that?

All the hair he has, is crazy.. Looks like he needs a haircut already

He is a little cutie in that photo, but ouch poor Mum! I hope they're both ok long term.

LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 27/03/2013 14:48

Shock Wow, poor mum must have needed a lot of stitches!

duchesse · 27/03/2013 14:52

Quite ladymary. I think anyone with a shoulder distocia is going to have an episiotomy from here to kingdom come though, whatever the size of the baby...

MurderOfGoths · 27/03/2013 14:57

Owwwwww!!!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/03/2013 14:59

Wow, poor lad and his mum, sounds traumatic, DS3 weighs exactly the same today and he's 20 weeks old!

Eskino · 27/03/2013 15:01

Wow what a little smasher!

Reassuringly it says at 6 weeks he's only put on 18oz so he's no more likely to be a big toddler than any other baby.

duchesse · 27/03/2013 15:07

I went looking for information about management of shoulder dystocia and now wish I hadn't.

Luckily there is a more gentle option before going in with all medical guns blazing. From the Spinning babies web site.

I'm not looking! I'm grateful for the child I already have, this has really put me off having any more! Grin

GetOeuf · 27/03/2013 15:59

Jesus christ. What a dear looking big boy but the poor, poor girl who gave birth.

Dont' they scan people and find out if babies are so big? Surely they must have had some idea? That poor girl must have been in agony afterwards.

I am glad that the baby is well but bloody hell.

bubblesinthesky · 27/03/2013 19:18

The scans are so inaccurate though. They kept telling me that DS was going to be at least 10 pounds maybe 11 and I was blooming terrified. He was 7lb 10oz. I'm sure it works the other way too

Shagmundfreud · 27/03/2013 20:10

"I think anyone with a shoulder distocia is going to have an episiotomy from here to kingdom come though"

I had a shoulder dystocia with an 11lb baby and didn't have an episiotomy. Or stitches for that matter. wizard's sleeve

I had gestational diabetes which was poorly controlled, partly as it was only picked up by chance, not from sugar in my urine (never had any). That baby looks like it's had too much sugar in the womb. DS was just like that - fat, fat, fat, and weirdly wiggy looking. (but cute too!)

Shagmundfreud · 27/03/2013 20:12

Just seen that she had an epidural.

Christ - getting a 15lb baby out with an epidural in place. Jesus. Give the girl a bloody medal.

She must feel like she's won prize pig at the fair. I know I did when I had my big baby.

RobbinyoureastereggsSparkles · 27/03/2013 20:20

Ouch!

What a little cutie though! :) I could just squish those little chubby cheeks.

muriel76 · 27/03/2013 20:25

Tothreeornottothree, what makes you think it was said light heartedly? I should think that would be enough to put anyone off for a long time Smile

Scans only tend to pick up if babies are 'underweight' rather than on the large side, or that was the case 7 years ago anyway.

So glad the little boy is ok Smile

Annunziata · 27/03/2013 20:28

Good god! His poor mamma.

What a wee darling he is though. And all that hair!

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 27/03/2013 20:31

What a cutie :)

But ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
