So Mark Oaten says in article in the Sunday Times this week. \link{http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspaper/0,,176-2168343,00.html\here}

Does the man really believe that we will now nod our heads and say "Quite understandable in that case?"

To be fair he does say that there are other things which are too private for him to discuss -
in which case I would have thought though that it would have been better not to say anything at all, instead of coming up with that pathetic hair loss excuse.

To be fair to him, he did attribute it to an early mid-life crisis, though quite how that leads to you having sex with a male prostitute I don't quite understand. Most men just leer at their younger female colleagues or buy a leather jacket or get a tattoo or something!

I feel for his wife. Did anyone read the interview with her (Hello! I think!) where she posed, Suzi Quatro like, with her guitar? They have 2 small children, it must have been horrible for her. I have no sympathy for him but it can't be very nice being her.

yes, it would be so horrible to be on the plane and hear people talking about you like that - public humiliation on a grand scale. he doesn't strike me as a horrid person, just a bit pathetic.

What I never understand about these things is...do they really think they can keep it a secret? It's one thing to be an ordinary MP but once you put yourself up for leadership of the party you'd have to be pretty stupid not to think you're going to get found out. So why put yourself in that position? [so to speak....ooops, unintended double entendre]

I do feel kind of sorry for him, and for the record he's a nice bloke. Met him when he did an election roadshow at the Baltic in Gateshead last year and he's genuinely passionate about what he does!

Dh lost his hair young and has never had to resort to being shat on to get over it. FFS, if a bloke goes bald, learn to live with it.

Going bald may be sad, but wanting to be shat on makes you a bit of a nutjob, regardless of your hair 'situation'
