quite a few houses round here have started flying the england flag already (they've left them there since St George's)

think joe cole and michael owen should go u p front, still disappointed that arsene wenger isn't going to be the new manager..think he is holding out for managing France

I can't wait for the world cup - even insisted we didn't go on holiday during it (I like to watch it in my own house).

My DH on the other hand - DOES NOT like footie (or oikball/kevball as he calls it). He is a rugby, cricket, hockey follower (and player of the latter).

We both have an eversion to replica footie kit, so no england footie shirts for my DD but I do want her to get into the spirit of the world cup with me (she is 2.4) and already know the words to glory glory man utd... (much to dh disgust)...

I have ordered her a england polo shirt - as didn't want footie shirt as such, and couldn't find anything else suitable. Really wanted to get team england kit from commonwealth etc but none for sale and longer.

Is there such a thing as tasteful world cup stuff???

Wouldn't dream of flying flags, wearing replica kit but am really exited about having friends over to BBQ and watching the matches (although not on same day as I like watching them alone (and with DD/DH of course).

I love the world cup.

I watch most of the England games, but enjoy doing my own thing whilst DH and the lads watch the other games. Same for any big tournament.

Tis a great opportunity to shop and eat out etc in peace if you don't like the game.

DH has already booked annual leave for the weekend of the final, even though he's not on shift (Just in case they cancel rest days, lol)

Wayne Rooney is a fking whingebag, so he's got a broken foot. Aaaaahhh poor him, DP had a forklift truck driven through his leg, adn he just gets on with it. Oh, and he doesn't get paid £100K a week for the privelge.

I love football, but when it comes to world cups etc I couldn't give a sh*t, and it does my head in how everything is David Beckham this, Wayne Rooney that. There's plenty of other players, who don't behave like spoilt brats when things don't go their way. And it definately doesn't need to be no.1 story since Saturday.

oh and shudder at men with long fingernails, they give me the creeps bigtime.
