how can that awful bigoted idiot who seems to take enjoy targeting the disabled & those less able to defend themselves be awarded damages in a libel case.
It stinks, he constantly defends his right to speak out but sues when a paper publishes something he doesnt agree with.

I do agree with that.
I find it tricky with FB because I do also find him funny. When he's not being abusive, he has a sense of the absurd and fantastical that makes me laugh.
I suppose he, like Gervais and JCarr and most of the others, calculate what nets them the most money and run with it.

I'm disabled and my husband is disabled and we find Frankie Boyle absolutely hilarious...you have to have a laugh at things and make light of a bad situation, freedom of speech is more important than a very funny comedian offending a few people.

Thanks Veritable, despite having a severly disabled child I have not completely lost my sense of humour & can see the funny side of some jokes even when aimed at the disabled.
I guess we all have our limit & for me Frankie Boyle usually oversteps it with opening his mouth.
I believe he is building his career on the publicity he creates by being controversial, humour seems less important to him now.
Its more about how far can he go & who can he offend in order to make the press.
Where Boyle seems to differ to Gervais,Carr & the others their ££ doesnt seem to be made by causing distress & upset to others.

I am an adult who has grown up with people being cruel and evil but as a comedian its different to walking up to someone in the street and yelling abuse.

Oh but Gervais and Carr (and so many more of them) are making money off the backs of others' distress - very much so. In Carr's case almost totally, I would say. I think in light of the Savile case(s) much of his act will have to go and I imagine he's about to go through a 'creative' phase where he desperately has to rewrite himself. I predict a confessional book where he apologises for every joke he made about kiddy fiddlers and 12 year old girls and their dodgy uncles (not to mention the tax thing), followed by national treasure status and years more quiz show punditry.

But them there are lots of racist characters on tv but we don't call the directors, editors or producers racist so its unfair to give fb that title if its untrue.

If he is targeting people and they chose not to take offence then that is their choice.
If he is, for example, laughing at how a child with Downs syndrome might look or sound, then they cannot defend themselves.
My objection is to target someone who cannot themselves shout 'shut up Frankie you fuck ugly cunt' as you or I could

But the difference between say Carr and saville is that Carr doesn't mean it he's not bein serious and the same for all comedians if you find them offensive don't watch

You can't tell him wat he can and can't say though because it can't be policed, what I may find offensive you may not and vice versa.
You shouldn't pick on people smaller than you but these are jokes not violent abusive threats.
