Haven't read all this but thought I'd revive it after hearing about 10 mins of his interview with Fergal Keane on Rad 4 this morning.

He sounded like quite a nice man really - not brave or pompous. Did anyone else hear it?

Caligula · 15/04/2006 15:14

Yes I heard it, thought it was very interesting. Agree he just came across as a nice ole duffer.

cod · 15/04/2006 15:25

yes i heard
you coudl say at least he stuck to his beliefs

littlerach · 15/04/2006 15:50

I heard it too, and he seemed like a genuinely nice old bloke, albeit perhaps a litle naive for thinking he'd never be the one to be kidnapped.

sfxmum · 15/04/2006 16:13

heard it too, felt he came across quite genuine and human in his foibles and ideals i guess.

JoolsToo · 15/04/2006 16:46

why wouldn't he be 'a nice old bloke'?

Martini · 15/04/2006 19:53

JoolsToo - have a look back down the thread - especially the early posts - there were several people who seemed to think he probably wasn't. It was all to do with whether he said thank you for being rescued.
