Nah, 'nonce' is classic! I LOVE it! Gotta love the British, they're so much more colourful w/the insults.

cod · 23/03/2006 10:31

nonc eis common word of abuse no?

NomDePlume · 23/03/2006 10:32

nonce is a horrible word.

beetroot · 23/03/2006 10:32

Nonce is what they call prisoners on rule 43 in prison..(sex offenders) mainly.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:33

oh, guess i won't be adding it to my vocab then Blush

but lardy brains is a nice one.

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:34

yes cod ! That's why it is stupid taking any one to court for saying you are a nonce. In fact only a nonce would do such a thing.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:34

the only thing worth debating is fashion, IMO. i mean, peeps, let's get the message out there - going make-up free past a certain age is just wrong.

beetroot · 23/03/2006 10:35

well if i was called a nonce I would be very damn offended. A NONCE IS ANOTHER WORD FOR SEX OFFENDER

Ponce I coudl deal weith othough Grin

Not that I think litigation is the way to go btw

Enid · 23/03/2006 10:36

what a twat

cod · 23/03/2006 10:36

beety oyu area nonce

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:37

'turn this wreck, into a cheque!' call me, the ambulance-chasing solicitor!

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:37

Going make up free is a SIN in my book - so is dressing badly Grin

NomDePlume · 23/03/2006 10:37

I've always known it as another term for paedophile

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:38

I alos like the word pimp.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:39

pasty white muffin tops on display over lo-rise jeans in a skimpy vest is a CRIME in my books!

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:40

The way I look at is if you are not a nonce, or a ponce or a pimp, WHY get so offended that you would go to court ?

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:40

i prefer the term 'punk ass'. one of my old bosses could use that term startlingly well. just the way it came off his lips. 'our estate agent was a punk ass.'

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:41

b/c you're a wuss, koolkat. i mean, seriously, why does it have to wind up in court? as i wrote in my first post, this person would fit right in in america.

zippitippitoes · 23/03/2006 10:42

it dpends if you are a teacher, scout leader or leisure centre powner then it might affect you financially

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:42

expat - what about white high heels and skimpy mini on a fat arse ?

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:44

nah, kool, i saw the WORST the other day in town centre. this gal was wearing a sleeveless vest in freezing temps. but she wasn't cold. she was SO massive she had cellulite all over her arms. and young, too. so young!

that's tragic, man.

koolkat · 23/03/2006 10:45

Zippit - yes agree. If you are not a paedo. than being called one may effect your prof, reputation and future finances. That is the whole point about libel.

But it is ok to call a dead person whatever you like. So ladies, wait until the person is dead, then call 'em what you like Grin

edam · 23/03/2006 10:46

The woman who wrote the offensive comments was using a pseudonym - presumably this guy was too? So how on earth does he think his reputation has been damaged, if no-one IRL would know who the comments applied to?

Interesting if the courts have decided that name-calling a pseudonym is libellous - maybe they mean his reputation online on sites where he uses that pseudonym would have been affected? Still seems daft.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 10:47

no doubt, edam! sounds like a case of 'i'm telling teacher! johnny's such a bad boy! £10,000 detention for you.'

gimme a break!

zippitippitoes · 23/03/2006 10:47

I imagine he said who he was..or his name was taken in vain and he got wind of it and joined the debate

but yahoo groups are like private chat rooms aren't they? You have to be invited in
