Was it actually our fault? I presumed the pre prepared video thingy had been done by London?

FallenCaryatid · 25/07/2012 21:42

Well, the London lot have apologised for it.

girlylala0807 · 25/07/2012 21:43

Well im not actually sure. But it happened here. I worded it badly. Not a great start all the same

Ha ha ha - of all the countries to mix up, they chose the worst Grin

girlylala0807 · 25/07/2012 21:50

As a friend of mine just said on fb

"Short of displaying a swastika instead of the Israeli flag, this is probably the worst mistake you can make with flags"

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/07/2012 21:53

Yup. You would have thought someone at LOCOG would have had the intelligence to get someone to double check these videos before they went out to the venues.

Am pissed off thousands, it does make Scotland look pretty ignorant, even though it wasn't our fault.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/07/2012 21:54

Thousands = though

fridakahlo · 25/07/2012 21:56

Major whoopsie! Totally Londons fault though, one suspects.

Meglet · 25/07/2012 21:57

I'm sure I read somewhere that they had made loads of Olympic staff swot up on flags so mistakes like this weren't made.

ajandjjmum · 25/07/2012 22:00

Why do we have to focus on the one flag that we got wrong (although fairly major wrong admittedly!), rather than all that we got right.

girlylala0807 · 25/07/2012 22:03

Just because of the countries involved. I love love love the Olympics for the recored

Bit of insider knowledge here - it was indeed London's screw-up. They prepared the content and believe it or not it gets signed off by three people! You can feel proud instead that the people at Hampdon actually managed to get it sorted so that the match went ahead in the end, which wasn't easy in the circumstances.

ajandjjmum · 26/07/2012 07:55

True Kitty - what did they do? Go and borrow one from the crowd?

xkittyx · 26/07/2012 08:24

Downloaded it and rejigged the content. Its so frustrating though, as its Hampdon and Scotland that people will associate with the incident.

JennyPiccolo · 26/07/2012 08:40

Legalised gay marriage and started an argument with north Korea in the same day. Wha's like us, eh?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 26/07/2012 08:43

Come on people. Scots pride is one thing but are you honestly trying to tell me that the team at Hampden Park responsible for hitting the 'on' button to display flag and national anthem had no idea what was about to appear on the screen and that it was all orchestrated by the evil sassenachs?

Inyourhippyhat · 26/07/2012 08:45

On a par with showing the cross of St George instead of the Saltire!!

xkittyx · 26/07/2012 08:48

Yes. Content is put together, checked and signed off centrally. This wasn't a Hampdon blunder.

Frontpaw · 26/07/2012 08:55

I was picturing some poor techie saying 'Korea, och they've goat twa flags... aye that'n'll dae. Must be like the st andrews and the wee lion-ey ane, eh?'.

Disclaimed - I am from Glasgow.

JennyPiccolo · 26/07/2012 09:30

I was wondering if it might've been a subtle attempt at sabotage. We'll never know though.

FallenCaryatid · 26/07/2012 10:01

'On a par with showing the cross of St George instead of the Saltire!!'

Hippyhat, have you seen the border between N and S Korea? Not quite the same as crossing the Tweed. More like combining Israeli athletes with the Iranian flag.

JennyPiccolo · 26/07/2012 16:46

was London's fault, according to the BBC.

Frontpaw · 26/07/2012 16:56

I bet they are double checking all the flags now - and the national anthems.

Viviennemary · 26/07/2012 17:02

I heard a snippet this morning that they got North and South Korea mixed up and the team marched off the pitch.

Viviennemary · 26/07/2012 17:05

Must stop posting in this heat. Good job I'm not in charge of Olympic flags!
