Biggest ever Bank Robbery - Does anyone care

Whilst I sympathaise with the family who were taken hostage, this happens to people up and down the country every week and do the police brek their necks to catch the criminals. Im sick of hearing about this robbery, what about the rapists and murderers and those who abuse children or attack old vulnerable people. I would rather hear on the news what we as a nation are doing to combat that.

Am I alone here but Im fed up of hearing about this robbery.

I guess they want to get to the people who did it, and the money, before it is used for buying drugs, or other shady goings on

I dont think it will be used for drugs - I thought it would be shared out and they would live the life of luxury provided they dont get caught. Might be wrong.

I think the authorities would be better off sorting out the drug dealers on the streets with all the resource they have been able to assign to this case.

what do you mean ' does anyone care'? yes, a great many people care that gangs with guns will take people hostage for money. Don't you care? if you are really saying that the police just don't bother with rapists and murderers then you obviously know something I don't. I'd like to hear /see your evidence please trix1.

How can you possibly know what it will be used for? if it is drugs the police need to get to the suppliers before it even gets to the drug dealers on the streets.

hmmm - right - that would be really easy to do wouldn't it - given that a life of luxury would probably be bought 'in the open' whereas drugs the money can be disposed of without being too traceable/

Thie was a massive operation Trix with a lot of people involved. So the resources probably balance out compared with what is spent on catching one murderer for example. This type of criminal gang activities spreads wider than an individual committing a violent act, and affects more people.

I think that this case has had much more resource and media coverage than most other crimes. I think its appaling when people use guns to commit crimes but its happening every day in every city around the country and I have yet to hear many other cases get as much coverage even when these B* have killed someone.

I think they have their priorities all wrong - a lost life would warrent more media atteniton in my opinion and more police resource to catch the crininals.

but if this money was going to be spent on the 'black market' then it would cause more deaths. It's not rocket science to know that a lot of gun crime and violence occurs over drugs and other criminal activities.

I think it's human curiosity as well - people love crime stories and such a massive amount of money stolen has caught the public's imagination. How the criminals thought they'd get away with it, how they planned it etc etc. the press are just given the public what they want.

i agree that the media and the criminal justice system allocate a disproportionate amount of space, and resource to crimes that involve money as opposed to violent crime which imo is far more cause for concern.

well, seeing as the gang had shotguns and were fully prepared to use them , a great many lives nearly were lost.I still don't get what exactly you are driving at ? is a gang with guns intrinsically less dangerous and less of a public threat that a lone murderer?

but this was a violent crime... locking up staff in cages, taking hostage a family...

My thoughts are that if someone wnat to buy and deal drugs its because they are selfish and immoral who just think of the money thats to be made with no care for the pain and misery it causes. So if you stole that much money would you bother to buy drugs whats the incentive - sureley they would have enough money. Just my opinion, im not condoning what these people have done.

This is like the Great Train Robbery all over again - law & order/establishment gets egg on face from smartarse crooks who can't be allowed to get away with it.

They do appear to put a disproportionate amount of time and effort into nailing people who pull off jobs like this...

i tune it out or change the channel when the story comes on. can't be bothered to read online coverage of it.

they would never be able to keep all that money though would they? It will be laundered, moved all over the world. It might be used to fund terrorism for example. Do you really think they have stolen all that to spend on swimming pools, Jaguars and champagne?

I suppose when we occasionaly have these horrific stories of children missing/murdered when they draft in police from other counties to help that must be quite cheap.

And I suppose the things we see in the news about X being charged with the murder/rape/etc etc of Y must be fairytales where they spent no money to catch them......

I really think you are verging on hysteria trix1 - there is a great deal of police work as well as education in schools being done which targets gun crime and the gang culture, as well as drug abuse etc. Do you truly not know this? do you think the police only exist to appear on the telly to make public appeals?
I have lived in London all my life, in several different inner city boroughs and while I am fully aware of the dangers which exist ( how, I wonder? am I psychic?) I have never felt that my life is controlled by gangs, as you imply. I think you probably read too many red tops.

They didn't get it in the Christmas pudding or even from mugging old ladies, it is from organised crime,ill gotten gains.
