Just thinking about the removal of cooking from the school curriculum.
I bet when they were developing the national curriculum, some bloated readymeal baron slipped the government a million quid in brown paper bags to take cooking off.

Absobloodylutely Kathy.

(NB uwila, I knew spuds were a starch source and not a fruit. Hence the big wink)

I am SO smug today:
It is because of my ketchup intake that I do not have prostate cancer
and
It is because I cannot stand the simpering of that Petit Filous ad child that DS has never had any!!

WideWebWitch · 02/03/2006 16:53

I do buy petit filou btw, I don't think sugar is the end of the world but I don't claim to think they're a health food, absolutely not!

Kathy1972 · 02/03/2006 16:59

LOL at benefits of Blu's ketchup intake.
So glad you do not have prostate cancer, Blu.

I am at a loss as to why some people feed their kids only junk and ready meals - my children do not have a 'perfect' diet but I do look at labels and think about each meal I give them. Most meals I make take 30 minutes or less to prepare. I do allow some sugary treats but feel I am making an informed choice - the information is there, but some people choose to ignore it or maybe they just dont understand it but TBH I find that hard to swallow - I honestly think people are just incerdibly lazy. I watched a 'kids fit club' programme on Discovery H & H today and the boy on it was tucking into a snack consisting of 2 slices of white bread, lashings of butter and 5 sausages and the family didnt even own a chopping board because all they ate was ready meals and no veg! Shocking, really shocking. Not any wonder the wee boy was a porker!

they were probably the micro sausages mentioned in hunkers post!

dgs loves mango

I think sugar is not such an evil in moderation butI'm not keen on artificial sweeteners and it always seems a bit unnecessary to have products containing both

I think there is widespread ignorance about food
