I cannot believe what i am reading this morning, a 14 yo has walked FREE after raping a 4yo little girl.
It is truly sickening the act in itself, and to let him be set free and society be blamed because of porn-WTAF???!!!
I think he should be castrated and locked up, a 14 yo knows right from wrong

Well is there a link?

KatherineKavanagh · 04/07/2012 11:00

You can't castrate people!

ethelb · 04/07/2012 11:03

the judge needs to be hauled over the coals for suggesting that "I think my hormones took over" is a legitimate defense.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9372051/Teen-rapist-spared-jail-after-judge-rules-he-was-corrupted-by-internet-porn-world-and-society.html

don't know how the judge can keep on practicing tbh

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 11:06

Tbh a judge that sets someone free after doing such a thing is clearly not a very good judge.
I know we cant castrate people but its a shame they cant be in cases like this.
But he should be locked away, a 14yo knows right from wrong.
That poor little girl must be living in fear

OP posts:
ethelb · 04/07/2012 11:08

@pumpkin i think you have missed the point.

the girl will live in fear for the rest of her life (as will many other rape victims) as it is now legitimate to rape if it is only an "impulse" according to this judge.

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 11:11

An 'impulse'-wtf a 14 yo knows right from wrong and to rape a small child on impulse is purely evil and revolting.
The judge should not be practising quite clearly!
How and why would a judge set a person/boy free when they deem a danger?-what will happen next time this 14yo gets an'impulse'?

FaceForRadio · 04/07/2012 11:12

disgusting.

I read an article recently about a man who walked in on someone raping his 5 year old daughter - the father killed this man with his bare hands in that instant! He escaped charge and it was put down to justifiable homicide.

This was in America and I appaud the decision not to pass sentence on this father, who in my opinion would do what any parent would do in that situation. Well except of course in the UK, where rapists are allowed to breathe the same air as us.

happy2bhomely · 04/07/2012 11:28

If she was my 4 yr old daughter, I would want him dead, 14 or not.

If he was my son I would want him locked up for life, for his sake and for the sake of the public. I would think I had failed him terribly and would be ashamed and guilty for the rest of my life.

My heart just breaks for that little girl.

chipmonkey · 04/07/2012 11:35

I have a 15 year old and a 13 year old son. They would be horrified that anyone could do such a thing and I would be ashamed of my life if they ever did anything like that. Poor little girl.

It highlights the dangers of the Internet and how exposure to pornography affects young minds. Awful. It's a big problem, and will only get worse.

Judge implys that that would not have happened had the boy not been able to view pornography.

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:09

I don't think pornography is to blame at all-everyone looks at it!
A four year old little girl is an innocent wee being that would look nothing like what boys see in magazines!
Its an excuse he has used to try and get off and it worked.
I would question what sort of person the judge is behind closed doors tbh

OP posts:
KatherineKavanagh · 04/07/2012 12:13

Hmm everyone looks at it? Really?

The boy has a developing brain, it's distorted his development. As for the judge, he can only sentence using the guidelines he is given. He doesn't have the ability to castrate him/send him down for life!!

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:21

Katherine-a little girl would look nothing like a woman from porn.
A 14yo turned on by a little girl is cleary sick in the head!

ShatnersBassoon · 04/07/2012 12:25

"I don't think pornography is to blame at all-everyone looks at it!"

Wrong. Not all children have access to everything that the internet has to offer. Not all adults want to look at pornography.

Pornography can be blamed in part, for the effect it can have on a developing mind. Those images should not have been available to this boy, but also he should have had the moral gumption to know that what ran through his mind was wrong and should never be acted upon.

timetoask · 04/07/2012 12:25

I am with Katherine on this one.
A young person's mind is very impressionable. If this young boy wouldn't have been exposed to this porn, he probably wouldn't have done this.
I think regardless of the reasons for his behaviour, he should be heavily punished. But some serious questions need to be asked in our society when young teenagers are so messed up in the head.

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:25

The judge would have the ability to sentence him as he is over 10yo the minium for sentencing.

OP posts:
pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:26

Does anyone exusing him realise the little girl was only 4?

OP posts:
MadAboutHotChoc · 04/07/2012 12:29

This link explains why pornography is believed to be a factor:

www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/jul/02/gail-dines-pornography

timetoask · 04/07/2012 12:31

I don't think anyone is excusing him, but the root reasons for this behaviour should be analysed and something should be done about it.

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:32

But don't peadophile start at a young age?
Maybe he is a peadophile?

This gets me very [anger]

The murderers of James Bulger were held responsible for their actions - no-one said, "Oh well, they've been watching violence on tv which may have influenced them. Let's be lenient."

pumpkinsweetie · 04/07/2012 12:38

Absolutely Sali!
And they are still disturbed thugs.
James Bulgers parents never got proper justiceSad

OP posts:
timetoask · 04/07/2012 12:44

Who knows, maybe the murderers of james bulgur did have access to violent films.
Ofcourse this boy should get punishment, I think the judge was wrong to let him off so easily, but, we need to do something to stop young people having access to material that is clearly damaging.

ohmygosh123 · 04/07/2012 12:45

If you behave in a way that you wouldn't normally do due to the influence of drink or drugs, then you are still culpable, because you knowingly used them and took the risks. I can't see the difference in deciding to watch pornography (especially involving children which any idiot knows is illegal). If you then go and do something as a consequence - tough - you chose to watch it, and run the risk of making your brain think it is normal to behave like that.

I find the barrister defending him, and who came up with that argument, utterly sick - and I wonder how she would feel if it was her daughter who was the victim. The sentencing guidelines also stink - but the boy needs his head sorting out, and maybe prison will only make him worse. Maybe intensive courses to reprogramme young brains would be more use, than a supervision order.

I could get the argument slightly more if the child was nearly his own age, but she was 4 not 12, and he was being paid to babysit her ffs. At which point his brain should be in caring for small child mode, and not ooh here's a girl who is available!
