Look we all know this is a far lefty/ guardian reading haven of a website and you are all welcome to your views. But in our country of nigh on 60 Million only a couple of hundred thousand read the guardian and fewer than that support your politics of jealousy of what mine is yours and what is everyone else has is yours too.

Now you are all on about religious myths to justify your politics well enough said. You can have your faith in your woo woo but there is no place for it in politics.

Nicholas when you can have a debate without the rude comments then maybe I'll enter the discussion with you but your rudeness is frankly rife with your type. Agitators like you are just a waste of time. Always agitating anarchy never using yor free time to actually go and help the needy. Like all those 15M or occupy types, all day sitting in the sun protesting and never prepared to go to the local hospital or old folks home and pick up a paint brush for the afternoon.

That is a warning for those rich people who don't help others and have no pity for others. There is no punishment for being rich or being fortunate, but there is punishment for lack of compassion and aid to others.

As a Bible scholar, ttosca, you will also be aware of the parable of the talents, whuch ended with "wailing and gnashing of teeth" for the person who did not invest money wisely and make it grow, but did nothing with it.

13 ?Therefore stay alert, because you do not know the day or the hour. 14 For it is like a man going on a journey, who summoned his slaves and entrusted his property to them. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to work270 and gained five more. 17 In the same way, the one who had two gained two more. 18 But the one who had received one talent went out and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master?s money in it. 19 After a long time, the master of those slaves came and settled his accounts with them. 20 The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, saying, ?Sir, you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.? 21 His master answered, ?Well done, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful in a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.? 22 The one with the two talents also came and said, ?Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.? 23 His master answered, ?Well done, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.? 24 Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, ?Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.? 26 But his master answered, ?Evil and lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I didn?t sow and gather where I didn?t scatter? 27 Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received my money back with interest! 28 Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten. 29 For the one who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30 And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth??

NicholasTeakozy · 10/06/2012 16:13

Do you want some more FACTS with that? :o

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 16:13

I am weeping and gnashing.

claig · 10/06/2012 16:15

There was also "wailing and gnashing of teeth" in New Labour headquarters on election night, but that is a different matter and was not a pretty sight.

Goodness, it's like Ben Elton is on the thread.

claig · 10/06/2012 16:22

'That's because they couldn't get an NHS dentist'

I thought it was only the people that couldn't get an NHS dentist, I thought that the people at New Labour headquarters all go private. I may be wrong.

MammaBrussels · 10/06/2012 16:22

Do NHS dentists still exist?

OP posts:
Tortington · 10/06/2012 16:25

they do apparently

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 16:29

I'm afraid the Tories have not got to grips with HNH dentistry at all.

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 16:29

NHS sorry

Tortington · 10/06/2012 16:30

Her Novack Highness?

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 16:30

My fingers slipped with all the excitement of having her on the thread.

claig · 10/06/2012 16:32

In fact the parable of the talents is a bit like the parable of New Labour (or No Labour).

Gideon takes up his office and finds a note from New Labour which was given one talent (although in some accounts, one talent is considered an over generous description of their talents), and the note said something like I have blown all the money you gave me and sorry "there's no money left". When the good public were made aware of this awful news, they said "throw that worthless party into the outer darkness (the opposition benches), and there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth amongst them, and much rejoicing of the common people.

MammaBrussels · 10/06/2012 16:34

We can't have the 'commoners' rejoicing in a Conservative led government.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 10/06/2012 16:35

Jesus's parables were actually fairly critical of the judgemental type of human.

claig · 10/06/2012 16:46

Yes, if this government does not get its act together and succeed in delivering growth, then the people will vote them out as well.

Xenia · 10/06/2012 16:59

They need a more radical agenda but are not brave enough to do it and the Lib Dems would hold them back.

God, if she exists, certainly does not encourage the idle.

By seeking to earn a lot you then have money to give to those who need it. This is the issue with the charity tax point - to rich individuals better ensure money goes where it need to go to do most help or Governments? IN a sense that one tax issue encapsulates the wider issue - who determines best how money is spent. Most of us don't want to keep 100% of our earnings and have no welfare stage of any knid but we may want to keep 10% or 20% and have a smalelr state. Others might like Swedish levesl of tax at 60% tax levels, keeping 40% of what you earn and if you don't pay any tax at all like countless housewives who have never done a day's work in their lives you couldn't care less how much tax the rich or even the squeezed middle pay.

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 17:00

I love this God stuff.

MiniTheMinx · 10/06/2012 17:06

Many people start out life as teenagers in their 20s left wing and as time goes on they realise the error of their ways. They all "come home" eventually into the warm safe bosom of Conservative policies which are for them all best REALLY!

I grew up in a socialist home, my grandfather was a very wealthy land owner but he was a communist. Age 18, I rebelled and voted Tory several years later I saw the error of my thinking. In the same way that at age 18 I thought women were oppressed because they simply "asked for it" they weren't tough enough, they should go grab a man's job and make a million, what a ridiculous and immature way of thinking. Just as it is, to keep stating links between peoples IQ, their vocabulary, earning ability & class, it's rabid blinkered nonsense. Some people seem to lack the empathy APP. Still I await just one provable incontrovertible fact from those on the right, that Conservative policies are good for society, let alone the poor.
