Words escape me, I've read the article on the BBC website about this and now I cannot get it out of my mind. The part which hits home even more is Leana Hoseas' Analysis on it I've cut and pasted, I've been in tears the last hour. How brutal, those poor babies.

The "massacre" video which has emerged from Houla bears the sound of a man screaming:

"These are all children! Watch, you dogs, you Arabs, you animals - look at these children, watch, just watch!"

On a bedroom floor dozens of little children lie dead, their arms and legs strewn over one another. Many of their eyes are still open, bearing a look of shock and fright. They are all covered with blood and obviously suffered terrible deaths.

A girl, who is perhaps seven years old, wearing a headscarf and pink diamante belt, lies face to face in death with a much younger boy.

Another little boy in a yellow jumper lies with his arms stretched out, almost cradling the head of the girl next to him. Blood covers both their faces and soaks their hair.

People off camera are shouting: "Oh God, oh God, oh God."
Surely its time something needs to be done.....this can't happen again.^

Imperfectionist That article from The Times was touching.

I feel dismayed reading the news right now, Military intervention isn't going to happen. Clinton seems a bit fired up openly condemning the Russians in the BBC article below, too late really as Syria slips ever closer into a Civil War.

This makes sober reading, taken from Al Arabiya ^ "Clinton warned that unless unchecked, the deadly violence in Syria could lead to civil war or even develop into a proxy war because of Iran?s support for the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

'Remember you have Iran deeply embedded in Syria - their military are coaching the Syrian military. The Quds Force, which is a branch of the military, is helping them set up these sectarian militias', she said."^

Cassette We know exactly how you feel. I've been posting on facebook, my twitter page which has 1000's followers, and people are looking away, its too horrendous for many to even let into their minds, but I'm going to keep banging on at them as these are people like you and I, and those children could be one of ours.

Cassette I've posted the 'Save the Children' and 'Amnesty' Petition plus details on the protest outside the Syrian Embassy, all on this thread.

What's so frustrating is knowing its happening right now and something needs to be done now, civilians need protecting - children need protecting, its getting messy because it looks like its going sectarian not totally yet....if it does, well the bloodshed will be far far worse. Doesn't bear thinking about, Rwanda :(

www.aljazeera.comnews/middleeast/2012/06/20126161537432755.html The United Nation's Human Rights Committee is set to meet in Geneva today.......lets see what happens.....

Cassette - I keep looking at my little boy and thinking who could do such a thing, this atrocity happening to adults is horrific enough....to children....takes it to another sickening level, just barbaric. We can only hope that those who perpetrated the attacks, not just Assad and his croanes get justice.

Oh my god. How is this not on the front page of every newspaper around the globe?

I've just broken down at work and had to excuse myself Sad

catinboots · 01/06/2012 10:34

Those poor babies. Those poor parents.

What can we do??

What can we do?

I am do ignorant about politics but this has shaken me to the core.

What can I do? Please someone tell me if or how I can help.

Sobbing out of control now.

BonnieBumble · 01/06/2012 12:27

I'm signed up to various Syrian sites on FB and I have just received a link that says that 50 families are in a shelter in Bab Sbaa as the Militia have entered the town. They fear the worst.

Feel so helpless.

Please God keep those families safe.

catfart · 01/06/2012 13:04

catinboots - it is horrendous, we're all shook to the core on here from what we saw. Difficult images and to look at and heartbreaking news to read, we have to keep looking though and stay informed. Just keep talking about it, raise awareness with friends and family and follow the news. UN are saying this is looks crime against humanity...

We need to push our government for the option where there are safe havens in Syria that are protected by military (need US backing which will be hard) for the people to go immediately, this would be without unanimous support of the UN as lets face it...Russia and China won't. The UN is failing and meantime too many people are being murdered daily.

Bonnie - what are those facebook pages? Those poor people :(

Catfart. I've signed up for links from "Boycott Russia and China" and they have linked to an update from "The Free Army".

I'm also signed up to "A million signatures to stop Assad" - There has been reports from this site that I haven't seen published in the newspapers.

catfart · 01/06/2012 13:33

Thanks for that Bonnie, I'm about to sign up.

catfart · 02/06/2012 10:15

Hi Loonytoonie, there are details here on this website together with a link to the protest website www.peoniesandpolaroids.com/2012/06/tipping-point.html

I won't look at footage...but what are we meant to DO? What shall I do? I don't feel that signing another petition will make anything HAPPEN....

catfart · 02/06/2012 17:56

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-18309083 Pretty sober reading 'Annan warns all out war approaching'

TheHouseOnTheCorner - we need to keep awareness on this up, pressure on the Government.....it does feel very depressing right now, its just heading to all out sectarian bloodshed

My husband heard on the radio (Radio 4) that all those that were slaughtered in Houla were the extended family of a local Free Syrian Army leader, one of the first people in the area to start armed resistance.

A deliberate and calculated brutal death squad took all those children and adults lives. All the more sinister, they obviously enjoyed what they did - won't go into the details as it sickens me.

Military intervention will only make things worse for the Syrian people. The Free Syria Army need to be armed.

catfart · 07/06/2012 14:12

I think every option there is right now is bad for the Syrian people, I'm coming round to the idea of arming the Free Syria Army but only because sod all else is being done of any real consequence, it is convenient for the west though, sit back and watch them fight and more bloodshed with civilians being caught in the middle and these massacres happening as warnings for people to get back into line, all we have to do is give them the weapons. The military have a very good airforce....the free syrian army need some protection and the people from that, we need to implement no fly zones, humanitarian aid needs to get in there, thats at the very least.

Katkouta, I've not watched that yet, mustering up the strength as I know its going to be weeks of tears again.
