Reading the news though it is very obvious where they are trying to lay the blame... there is some 'careful' reporting going on that's for sure. Much is being made of his desire for a bigger house etc etc and the police are cagey in their statements. I think we can imagine what is possibly going to happen next.

A terrible tragedy.

RabidAnchovy · 16/05/2012 19:25

Even if they had had a bigger house having petrol pored through the letter box and set fire to is never going to have a good out come.

I think the media need to back off now and leave them be

Empusa · 16/05/2012 19:30

I hate the comments that I'm reading on various sites from people saying things such as "Oh well, there's 6 less mouths for my taxes to feed next week"

How can anyone be so heartless? :(

That was a comment on the Daily Wail's website. Disgusting, it really is. It saddens me that there is some murdering scum somewhere in the city that is capable of setting fire to a house full of kids, and it saddens me that there are people out there with such lack of basic compassion that they cannot overlook the fact the parents were on benefits and see this for the tragedy that it is.

BrightnessFalls · 16/05/2012 19:41

I could hardly watch that poor couple on the news tonight. Who gives a stuff about their background or lifestyle? I do hope the press respect their request for privacy.

porcamiseria · 16/05/2012 22:16

loads of people (a) are on tv and (b) in the public eye

fucking fuck carol malone for what she said

so angry, so cruel and so symptomatic of the nasty benefit bashing culture we are developing

LadyBeagleEyes · 16/05/2012 22:22

I've just seen the press conference.
I couldn't bear looking at their pain.
What sort of person could live with what they have just done? Six children, for fucks sake.
I would rather die than live with that loss.

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/05/2012 22:26

i have deliberately not read anything about this because i cannot imagine the pain that those parents are going through.

those children were murdered. Someone thought it ok to murder children. i sincerely hope someone is brought to account for this, who cares what the parents had done - having children is not a crime, claiming a benefit is not a crime,
murdering 6 children is a crime.
how can the person who did this sleep at night?
how can they?

i see some things these days, but this is still just shocking. I feel so much for the parents. i hope they manage to find some kind of peace.

carernotasaint · 16/05/2012 23:29

In regards to what i mentioned upthread,i had a flick through Woman magazine when i was in WH Smith. Theyve printed some letters and comments made on their fb page but only the ones agreeing with them of course.
I really really hope that this sort of tragedy/murder never happens again but the benefit bashing bias has to stop. Otherwise i have a nasty feeling it will.

gregssausageroll · 17/05/2012 08:18

Their TV interview is on Sky news. I started to watch but then they put up a picture of all 6 together. I had to switch off.

Someone knows the person who did this and is covering for them. They are just as guilty. I hope the person is caught soon. scum.

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 09:14

I can't watch the news when a report about this comes on.
I agree 100% with the last three posters, although sadly carer, it will happen again. There are some evil bastards in the world.

I live in constant fear of this happening to ds(7) and I.
When I had fake petrol bomb outside my front door 4yrs ago the police refused to take it for fingerprinting saying it was just kids messing around and threw it away. My front door was repeatidly kicked and tried to be forced open with screw drivers over 3 yrs that followed and arson team who had to come twice to seal my letterbox as it was bent open said this type of act was on increase and usually a vengeful ex:(

I eventually bought new front door without letterbox earlier this year as living with the fear of someone wanting you to burn to death is hell on earth.

I have thought about getting rope ladders etc to escape house and know how to test for if safe to open bedroom door and how bad fire is on otherside. I used to put foil at night on otherside of letterbox so that petrol would not move so fast. I wont let ds sleep in own bedroom due to I might not be able to get to him if fire broke out and he would not be able to get to safety himself due to his autism...it isnt living it's pure hell and police do nothing to help! CCTV has been my saviour and prison. This has totally opened my personal fears/situation incase ex watches news and gives him idea to have real go!

Poor poor babies RIP :(

porcamiseria · 17/05/2012 15:21

oh seaof you, it was a fake petrol bomb right? jesus

I am also pyrophobic and I made DP take the locks off one of the windows by the bed. plan is if there every is a fire we lower the children down in a duvet cover

my main worry is the bloody car in front of the house? what is that explodes too?

jesus, this story has upset me so much

may they rest in peace

seaofyou · 17/05/2012 15:31

Yes poca I have car on drive too and my bedroom window by car. My neighbours car was petrol bombed when I was pregnant it just explodes you dont have seconds even...kids were going round doing it for a joke about 4 cars got blown up I live in middle class working low crime rate areaShock except the 14 attacks on my house alone has probably stopped all the houses on the street from selling as people can access crime levels by postcode to know if safe area to live!
I was thinking of moving bedroom to back of house and move trampoline under the window...but not sure jumping from that height would a peron bounce off on concrete and way or if trampoline collapse?

It's awful when you have to think of life safing routes because each night is a potential risk....I don't sleep very well because of it.

seaofyou · 17/05/2012 15:35

wayworse (than falling from window without the bounce on trampoline first?

It is on the increase arson team said they were doing 2 a week year ago....due to actual threats alone. That poor family didnt get a warning to safeguard themselves...police would have laughed at them if they reported it though esp if it was my area!

FioFio · 17/05/2012 15:37

s at all these petrol bombed houses :( where on earth do you all live?

I must admit what wannabe posted had crossed my mind about is it fair on people to publicly parade them on scum tv shows like JK :( and if it is of a consequence of this, whether it will be looked at? i doubt it :( poor poor family

carernotasaint · 17/05/2012 15:54

According to another forum the clip has been pulled from youtube. This Morning must be worried. And a facebook page has been set up saying that the old hag should be sacked (i reckon they mean from This Morning) seaofyou im sorry that you and your family are having to live like that. The police in your area sound useless at best and neglectful at worst.

gregssausageroll · 17/05/2012 17:12

No, she is still on you tube. Despicable human being.

seaofyou · 17/05/2012 18:49

I live in poshish area detched house etc Fio....it is not the area but the psycho I decided to have ds who is not on benifits either....sick minds are not according to one socio economic status in society...no one would think my house in leafy suburb would be target of such terror!

Thank carenot victim support were Shock at police too!

AreWeHavingFunYet · 17/05/2012 19:00

It scares me that people could find any justification for the murder of 6 children, let alone that their parents were on benefits.

Just had a quick look at the highest rated comments on the Daily Fail and it made me feel sick. My fault for looking at that site I suppose but sometimes even their readers can still surprise me.

So desperately sad Sad

porcamiseria · 18/05/2012 09:46

I know arewe!!!! I felt exactly the same, highest rated were those that (albeit farly gently) agreed.

Oh well, lets hope it awakes a natonal conscience that benefit bashing is NOT OK

wont take away the fact that 6 kids were massacred though

RabidAnchovy · 18/05/2012 10:47

But it is only speculation that someone did it because they were on benefits and no other reason, I very much doubt that it was some disgruntled tax payer went off and set fire to a home with 6 children in it, we may never know who or why but I bet it is a lot more complicated then it was because they were on benefits

pumpkinsweetie · 18/05/2012 11:52

Benefits or Lottery winners, no person on this earth deserves to lose six children at all let alone in a housefire that may have been an arson attack.
Those children would have suffered horrific pain and now the family are going through hell that i cant even imagine.
I hope the sicko that did this is found and locked up for life or if i had my way hanged.
Rest in peace to those poor children who have had their lifes snatched away before they even began.
