That nasty bitch Carol Malone described this tragedy as "An accident waiting to happen" on This Morning. She said that there is a long of anger regarding benefits culture and this family being so public.Angry

carernotasaint · 15/05/2012 00:06

Well were the fuck does Malone think it fucking comes from. the politicians ,inaccurate DWP press releases and the media themselves which she works in.
She had better hope that this fire wasnt started by someone cos of benefit hatred because the finger might start pointing at her profession.
In fact if the fire was started because of this reason there will be a lot of nervous journalists and politicians who will try to wriggle out of the fact that they have played their part in this.

carernotasaint · 15/05/2012 00:11

And if that was the cause then it wasnt an accident as she so eloquently puts it. If it was started for that reason then it was murder.
Though i suppose in her world its only murder if the victims arent benefit claimants. Her use of the word accident is an oxymoron.

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/05/2012 00:19

Either Holly or Phil, pointed out that if accelerant was used that this is murder. The nasty bitch just repeated her "accident waiting to happen" line.

carernotasaint · 15/05/2012 00:29

Fucking disrespectful prejudiced bitch.

BeingFluffy · 15/05/2012 00:35

Carole Malone is a fucking mad bitch. So in her view they deserved it - it is justifiable to murder someone's children because they have a "big plush" council house and claim benefits? What does she want to do - enforced sterilisation, leaving babies to starve in the streets, or just burn them to death? No humanity or empathy for what this poor family are going through, an absolute disgrace.

ChippingIn · 15/05/2012 01:04

Poor little loves :(

Empusa · 15/05/2012 01:24

"That nasty bitch Carol Malone described this tragedy as "An accident waiting to happen" on This Morning. She said that there is a long of anger regarding benefits culture and this family being so public."

That is absolutely sickening :(

LadySybilDeChocolate · 15/05/2012 12:37

Was she saying that because they were (sorry Sad) a large family crammed into a house too small for them? In houses which are crammed there is a higher chance of more people dying. I care not about the fact that they are on benefits, it has nothing to do with what happened to them. This was a case of arson and murder. I hope they find the evil bastard that did this.

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/05/2012 16:33

No, she said it was because a lot of people were finding it hard and were bitter about those on benefits. She then went on to say that the Philpott family had a high profile.

carernotasaint · 15/05/2012 17:07

Two weeks ago Woman magazine ran a story about the Heaton family. Another bigger family who happen to claim benefits. There are STILL anti benefit rhetoric comments being posted on their facebook page now. Guess some people (celebrity mag readers Daily Mailists etc) are too damn thick to see the connection between benefit hatred being whipped up in the press and a tragic case like this.

Dillydollydaydream · 15/05/2012 17:15

Poor children :(
Cannot imagine what the parents must be going through.

Ratbagcatbag · 15/05/2012 17:20

I can't believe how nasty some of the press are being. I'm fairly local and yes when the family made headlines and the dad made some daft comments, I'm positive I was first there commenting on benefit scrounges. However no matter what your lifestyle choice is, no one and I mean no one deserves such a tragedy as losing one child let alone six.
I hope whoever did this rots in hell, with a very special spot reserved just for them.

stressheaderic · 16/05/2012 11:35

I have just watched the press conference where Mr Philpott and his wife were present. Never before have I seen two more broken people. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain they must feel, and how they are finding any strength to carry on.
Mr Philpott spent the time dedicating thanks to his community, and all of the uniformed services involved in the fire.

It doesn't matter how many children he has. Each one of them was born, raised and loved. And now six of them are gone. My heart truly breaks for them.

VickityBoo · 16/05/2012 13:50

This story just...it's beyond words. Makes me sick to my stomach to think someone can deliberately start a fire in a family home knowing full well the family are sleeping.

The press conference was so hard to watch. The father came across as very loving and kind in my opinion, I don't know about the family as I haven't seen them on tv before. He was so thankful to people and sad for those who saw the awful tragedy unfold. His gratitude to those who tried to help was astonishing.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 13:56

This is so awful and so saddening. I have no idea how those parents are able to cope. 6 children dead, the poor poor things.

I can't comprehend the wickedness of someone doing this on purpose. Hateful.

It is also upsetting to read how tjis has been reported. Who gives a shit how much benefit they have had, it doesn't matter. Their children have just died in the most horrific circumstances. They need out sympathy and support.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 14:03

I agree vickity that the father's grace and gratitude in that press conference is astonishing.

ripsishere · 16/05/2012 14:35

Me too.

RabidAnchovy · 16/05/2012 15:13

That poor mother is just broken, I don't think anyone could heal from something like this Sad Sad

Humbling to watch

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 15:17

I don't think I could even get a sentence out, let alone be as graceful and articulate as that poor man. How could you even help parents in that situation - what on earth would you say.

Those poor people.

3littlefrogs · 16/05/2012 15:21

According to the lunch time news it was caused by petrol being poured through the letterbox.

A colleague lost her home and all the famly possessions because somebody did this. It was the daughter's ex-boyfriend. They got out with just what they stood up in. The house was engulfed in seconds.

Those poor children had no chance. Sad

RabidAnchovy · 16/05/2012 15:24

GOML there is nothing anyone can say to them is there, sorry does not even come close. I just hope people do say something to them even if it is meaningless, I know when my nan died (no comparison I know) some people crossed the road because they did not know what to say to my mum and that was more hurtful then if they said the wrong thing.

I think it will have taken that poor man every ounce of strength he has left to make those thanks.
Poor poor people still have the funeral(s) to get through now too

wannaBe · 16/05/2012 15:32

I didn't take the "accident waiting to happen" comments as meaning they deserved to die tbh. I think what they came down to is the fact that if you put a family up for public scrutiny like that then sadly there are going to be people who react like that and enact their own sort of justice iyswim.

The family had apparently been victims of a hate campaign since they appeared on that tv programme (I didn't watch it at the time).

So perhaps we need to ask the questions as to how appropriate it is that we put people up on a public platform like this, and the potential consequences of doing so.

Freddiebump · 16/05/2012 17:46

I know of this family and despite the way they have been portrayed in the news over the years, they are brilliant parents and love their kids to bits. I hate the comments that I'm reading on various sites from people saying things such as "Oh well, there's 6 less mouths for my taxes to feed next week" I cannot believe anyone can be so bloody callous with regards to the murder of 6 innocent kids. Regardless of what their parents have or haven't done, and whether they live in a tent or a mansion, no-one deserves to go through the pain of losing their whole family like this. It's truly tragic :(

Badvoc · 16/05/2012 18:01

I just cant get that poor womans face out of my mind....Sad

I am also fairly local and am truly horrified by the reaction of some (right wing) people.

Perhaps the parents arent perfect, but show me a parent who is...
