Sorry to change the tone but if every sperm is sacred and must be put into a vagina what does that mean for rape laws given the erosion of womens rights generally in this state?

isn't that a biblical thing - it was a sin to spill your seed on the stony ground. Onan was the culprit, I think, hence 'onanism'. iirc correctly that's the basis of masturbation being a sin. and maybe why some sects believe rape to be a lesser sin than masterbation?

This stuff is proper scary. See also recent events in Georgia and wherever it was that made DV not a crime.

The fact that these things are even on the agenda in a place which is supposed to be leading the world in the way of enlightened democratic living (and often going to war on that basis) is horrifying.

Look, the woman campaigning about sperm isn't a nutter who genuinely believes that. She's trying to make the point that all this stuff about 'personhood' is a method of controlling women.

Totally get that, SGB, it's the mere fact that it needs techniques like this to bring it to peoples' attention that's scary.

I'm not terrified because I think this is real, but because of the reasons. The Personhood Bill is outrageous and actually pretty fucking scary.

Could this happen in the UK? I mean, how easily could extreme/radical Pro-Lifers take a serious step up? Obviously he political system is set up quite differently, I can only hope that it would stop this from happening here.
