Leo Blair. Nice! Doubtless the fact that his mother is a lawyer made the decission of these mysogenists easier.

Not going to help those decent fathers denied access is it?

But maybe the media will stop giving them such credence after a crackpot scheme like this.

FairyMum · 18/01/2006 07:19

So cruel. I am glad they don't have access to their children.

Elf1981 · 18/01/2006 07:20

I dont think this speaks widely of the F4J group, they just have a few extreme members like any group.
F4J have gone on record saying they have expelled some extreme members and they're going to shut down the group should their cause be over ridden by extreme actions.

Meanoldmummy · 18/01/2006 08:03

Hmmmmm.... I think F4J has been characterised by extreme and counter-productive behaviour for quite a long time now. If there was a majority of decent moderate people they surely would have distanced themselves from all the lunacy by now?

Hulababy · 18/01/2006 08:31

Apparantly thhe main F4J have made 35 leave because of their extremist behaviours recently.

But they do seem to attract some dodgy members don't they? How can they possible think that this plot could ever, even remotely, help their cause? It would just make everyone against them. Even non TB fans are not going to watch a little, innocent child be kidnaped and terrified are they? Idiots! Maybe some of these men are better off away from their children if this is how they sort their issues out.

Pfer · 18/01/2006 08:32

I'm all for F4J but this is crazy! Who in their right mind would grant these people access to their own kids if they are capable of this? They really are effing it up for themselves aren't they?

WideWebWitch · 18/01/2006 08:38

Doesn't surprise me, wankers. On the bright side maybe everyone will realise they're wankers. Sorry, haven't been awake long enough to make moreintelligent comments!

Enid · 18/01/2006 08:41

so there are thought police now?

werent they just sitting round talking crap adn it ended up in the papers?

Bozza · 18/01/2006 08:51

As I understand it this wasn't actually F4J though, was it?

Hulababy · 18/01/2006 08:54

News said it was people ont he fringes of F4J.

Even if it was just talk, surely the police have to act - to prevent it. Leo is only a child and if the police were aware of such a risk, surely they have to try and prevent it?

Enid · 18/01/2006 08:55

even dh thought it was a non-news story

Hulababy · 18/01/2006 08:56

It is definitely non-news though, yes. Must be a slow day.

Bozza · 18/01/2006 09:01

Oh DH and I were too busy arguing about whether the protester had dressed up as superman or batman.

Piffle · 18/01/2006 09:09

Nothing like being separated from your kids to make you crazy though...
But yes on the actual likelihood of getting access to your kids, not exactly the done way to go about it...
I imagine courts take a dim view of kidnapping someone elses child... I mean what would that say about your potential to take your own child if they let you see them?
Rocket scientists they are not...
But the law is an ass re fathers access in many cases.

edam · 18/01/2006 09:16

It is news, because it's Leo Blair. Many members of FFJ have been denied access to their children by the courts for very good reasons. And when journalists have tackled members on this they've said things along the lines of 'Oh, I only hit her a few times'.

No decent man who is actually allowed access by the courts but who has a difficult relationship with their ex and having problems actually seeing their kids should have anything to do with this bunch of women-hating nutters. It doesn't help them to be associated with this group.

And I am bloody sure that the number of men unfairly treated by the exes with regard to access is far, far smaller than the number of men who can't be bothered to pay maintenance or can't be bothered to turn up and see their kids. FFJ has given crap men a socially-acceptable excuse for not seeing their kids: "Oh, my ex is such a cow, she won't let me see them."

Surfermum · 18/01/2006 10:34

I just heard this on the radio, and my thoughts were the same as yours MB. The extremists have ruined things for the decent fathers with a real cause.

Aloha · 18/01/2006 10:36

I also suspect this is a complete non-news story. Sounds very tenuous link and I doubt very much there was anything even resembling a 'plot'.

oliveoil · 18/01/2006 10:40

probably made up by Blair so he can force in some new law or other. Twat.

cupcakes · 18/01/2006 10:42

If it's not a true story then I feel sorry for FFJ - who has any sympathy for them after media stories like this?
I was sympathetic to them initially but have been so put off by their love of publicity stunts. This story really angered me this morning, demonstrating their complete lack of empathy for other parents. However, if it does not really represent the aims and thoughts of the main organisation then it is very destructive for them.

Aloha · 18/01/2006 10:42

Probably jealous of Gordon's nice publicity over Sarah's pregnancy!

oliveoil · 18/01/2006 10:43

Yes! LOL.

TWAT.

cupcakes · 18/01/2006 10:43

It does seem a bit reminiscent of the Beckham's kidnap plot coverage - just when they needed some sympathetic headlines.

Meanoldmummy · 18/01/2006 12:44

I agree with everything edam said. F**k FFJ.

monkeytrousers · 18/01/2006 16:36

I don't think F4J were ever just decenty fathers fighting a good cause. You don't have lunatic fringes of other father's advocacy groups and thats because F4J had an explicitly misogynous agenda.
