That's a little mean, Highlander.

His incompetence has nothing to do with his looks.

YNK · 16/01/2012 17:00

He's still a cunt though!

Flipping news is now saying Cameron is "actively considering" a privately funded yacht for the queen. How about we get private companies to pay all their taxes properly and conscientiously first, and then see if they want to chip in for expensive royalist trinkets?

CalatalieSisters · 16/01/2012 17:07

And if they want private enterprise in on the fawny junketting, why don't they just get Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska to lend her a yacht, like he did for Peter Mandelson? I'm sure they could rustle up some freebies/favourable new contracts in return.

YNK · 16/01/2012 17:08

In that case DC's a cunt too (but we already knew that)!

He is a no-chin fucking knob. Plank

EdithWeston · 16/01/2012 17:25

"actively considering" !!!!!

That has to be one of the fastest turn arounds yet - given that Downing Street was distancing themselves from the whole thing at lunchtime.

CalatalieSisters · 16/01/2012 17:55

Britannia was decommissioned partly because of the huge running costs of a yacht, so even if the taxpayers aren't stung up front there would be a need to check who is ging to pay to keep HMS Privately Funded afloat and in full queen-licking service.

Ponders · 16/01/2012 18:56

Apparently what they are talking is an actual yacht - a 4-masted tall ship (according to PM anyway) - which is all jolly nice & romantic & all but still, the running costs aree exactly what I would like to know about, CS - there was no mention Hmm

Bramshott · 16/01/2012 19:01

This is a bloody brilliant PR stunt - no? "We're thinking of spending 60m of taxpayers money on a new royal yacht" "WTF" "oh no it's ok, you'll only have to pay for the running costs" . . .

TwllBach · 16/01/2012 19:05

What the fuck has this got to do with the education secretary anyway? Fuck fuck fuckity fuck. He already made me sweary with his stupid ideas, but what the ACTUAL...

You know what, words fail me.

ninah · 16/01/2012 19:08

up - he thought
he just didn't care
prob wants a peerage

AbsofCroissant · 16/01/2012 19:11

Abramovich has a spare yacht, now he's had a new, biggest in the world one bought. He can gift the old one to Queenie as a "thanks for not letting Putin get hold of me" gift. It's only fair. And will save us some cashish

Ponders · 16/01/2012 19:34

ah, no, it is to do with creepy Gove, because they'll use it for slavery apprenticeships or something

CalatalieSisters · 16/01/2012 20:18

Brilliant idea ponders. It can be one of those ships rowed by slaves, with Gove sitting up front banging a drum to keep time. They could even designate it as an academy school, specialising in maritime skills, and give the slaves A* rowing GCSES.

TheCrackFox · 16/01/2012 20:34

The Royal Family are seriously rich in their own right - can't they buy their own bloody boat?

usualsuspect · 16/01/2012 20:38
coolascucumber · 16/01/2012 22:30

Laughing at Mr Pants saying the boat would be an asset for the commonwealth. No Mr Pants, boats are liabilities - they cost a bloody fortune to run.

AbsofCroissant · 17/01/2012 09:17

According to this the Prince of Wales and Princess Ann are in support. Well of course. If someone said "we'd like to give your family a nice big free yacht" you're hardly going to turn it down now, are you?

MrPants · 17/01/2012 13:29

coolascucumber "Mr Pants, boats are liabilities - they cost a bloody fortune to run."

You are, of course, absolutely correct - in financial terms having a big boat to maintain would be a liability. I used the word 'asset' in the non-financial meaning though because on the radio program that I heard, there was talk that this ship would be a lot more than just the Queens personal floating gin-palace. I forget who it was that I was listening to, but they said that the proposal was to build a ship which could be used as some sort of floating university / maritime research tool, which I thought might be a good thing - particularly as it was to be built using no public money.

My understanding is that this wasn't to be HMY Britannia II, but was to be something to benefit the whole commonwealth and only reverting to Royal duties when not otherwise in use. I suspect that, given the way the masses have reacted to the idea, the whole project will be quietly canned.

Regards,

Mr. Pants.

marssparklesdownonme · 18/01/2012 11:57

Yes well Prince Charles would support it wouldn't he?? He is alleged to have cried like a baby when it was decommissioned in Hong Kong. Its just somewhere else for him and Camilla the horse to have a free holiday.

As for Michael Gove , well I bet Sarah Vine is delighted to be married to such a popular twat. When is Cameron going to realise the man is a complete arsehole.
Oh maybe he can be sacked in a term for incompetence.

sue52 · 18/01/2012 12:39

He has got form for this toadying attitude. He was outed in the MP's expenses episode for charging the public excessive amounts of money for a load of expensive furniture from David Cameron's MIL's shop. He comes across as a bit of a brown noser.
