Dutch woman mag calls Rihanna the ultimate n*****bitch (as a compliment!)

ARE THEY INSANE?

Their 'apology' is insane as well.

In an article published in the latest issue of Dutch fashion magazine Jackie, the magazine offers a little advice on how to dress like Rihanna without looking like the ?ultimate N*** Manbitch.? That?s right. No typo there. Check out the full English translation.

English Translation:

She has street cred, she has a ghetto ass and she has a golden throat. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate n***bitch and displays that gladly, and for her that means: what?s on can come off. If that means she?ll be on stage half naked, then so be it. But Dutch winters aren?t like Jamaican ones, so pick a clothing style in which your daughter can resist minus ten. No to the big sunglasses and the pornheels, and yes to the tiger print, pink shizzle and everything that glitters. Now let?s hope she won?t beat anybody up at daycare.

Two hours ago, Jackie Editor in Chief Eva Hoeke posted the below apology on the magazine?s Facebook page:

Dear readers,
First: thanks for all your responses. We are of course very fed up over this and especially very
shocked. However I?m glad that we?re engaging in a dialogue on this page ? not everybody does
that. Thanks for this. Other than that I can be brief about this: this should have never happened.
Period. While the author meant no harm ? the title of the article was intended as a joke ? it was a bad joke, to say the least. And that slipped through my, the editor-in-chief?s, fingers. Stupid, painful and sucks for all concerned. The author has been addressed on it, and now I can only ensure that these terms will no longer end up in the magazine.

Furthermore I hope that you all believe there was absolutely no racist motive behind the choice of words. It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang ? you hear it all the time on tv and radio, then your idea of what is normal apparently shifts ? but it was especially misguided: there was no malice behind it. We make our magazine with love, energy and enthusiasm, and it can sometimes happen that someone is out of line. And then you can only do one thing: apologize. And hope that others wish to accept it.

From the bottom of my heart I say it again: we never intended to offend anyone. And I mean that.
Regards,
Eva Hoeke

So, as editor in chief, Hoeke had no idea that this was offensive before running it and actually considered it a joke? In addition to being blatantly racist, calling Rihanna Jamaican and actually suggesting that mothers dress their daughters like her, this article is just wrong from every angle.

According to our source in Holland, Jackie is a well known fashion publication in Holland with a circulation of 57,700 copies per month.

Good comeback Rihanna.

Dutch magazine lady, you are odd.

donnie · 20/12/2011 17:48

I am not talking about the Entire Black Race coldwed. I am talking about Rihanna.Duh.

coldwed · 20/12/2011 18:18

Donnie, you wrote - but does she not refer to herself as a nr? I saw her twitter page yesterday or the day before and it was peppered with the N word. Why is it ok for her to say it?

My reply - If this is the way that Rihanna is inclined to respond when she is addressed or referred to in such a vicious and vile manner then it is a reflection on her as an individual and not the entire Black race.

I don't give a flying fuck what she calls herself, your argument here is that a if she calls herself that, the media can use the N word?

The entire black race does not want to be referred to the n word just because Rihanna chooses to use it on herself. Surely publication regardless of its country should be aware of whats offensive around the world. By calling Rihanna the n word, they offend the entire black race. By Rihanna calling herself that...she offends herself and makes herself look stupid.

Duh right back atcha chick.

She certainly makes herself look stupid by using the word about herself and then complaining when others use it about her.

donnie · 21/12/2011 11:10

yes, exactly my point Viva; it is both hypocritical and stupid to complain about the media using offensive language and then to use that very language yourself.
My point, coldwed, is that Rihanna is therefore hypocritical and stupid. As well as all the other things I mentioned previously.
Ultimately, however, I am not bothered since she is meaningless and vacuous.

The girl disgusts me as much as cocaine houston does i'm afraid.

AlpinePony · 22/12/2011 07:34

Ok, this shouldn't have been said/printed, however, the word is a poor translation from the Dutch word which is very similar.

I live in the Netherlands and a few weeks ago was having lunch with a dutch woman and a German woman (who has lived in the UK). The dutch girl used the n word and we both gasped and said "you can't say that". She didn't mean it to be nasty, as I say it's just a very crappy translation. E.g., the dutch word for a gay man is 'homo' which in English could be seen as insulting, but for a dutch person they'd assume it's ok in English as it's the diminutive of homosexual...

Language is a tricky thing and fluency is not easy!

mybrainsthinkingfuckyousanta · 22/12/2011 07:56

Yep alpineponyIn Germany (some similarity to dutch) they still use gefarbene (coloured) and Neger....I was Xmas Shock especially as the latter is used for a cake (Negerkuss).

I was very much wtf use the word schwarz and cut out the N word - BUT in linguistic terms it may not have the same power in another language (in the same way negro = black in spanish/portugese from the latin niger).

The whole NWA taking back the N word debate has been done before - noticably when Samuel L Jackson used it so much in Jackie Brown, but that doesn't mean it's a free-for-all and anyone can use it. Bitch is also offensive.

Rihanna is responsible however for my 9 year old singing about 'the smell of it' (eww Easy A anyone?) and so she can have a Xmas Biscuit.
