Girl rescued after police chase
A three-year-old girl who had allegedly been kidnapped from her home in South Wales has been rescued after a police chase in the early hours of Tuesday.
A police spokesman said a 26-year-old man from South Wales was arrested after his Escort crashed on the A4 between Hungerford and Marlborough.

The man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and driving with excess alcohol.

The child was taken by helicopter to Swindon's Great Western Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

She has now been reunited with her parents.

'Failed to stop'

Police say they first spotted a grey Ford Escort in Swindon where it drove through a red light at the Blagrove roundabout.

Officers pursued the car along the M4 for about four miles where it left at junction 15 before heading for 10 miles down the A4 towards Hungerford where it crashed.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a grey L-registration Ford Escort Ghia driving along the M4 eastbound, or in west Swindon around junction 16, late last night or shortly after midnight, to contact them.

The man has now been handed over to South Wales Police. "

Seems like it was just chance that she was found. So glad she is safe.

I have read a few different news reports on this and they just say that the child went missing sometime between 7pm - 11pm. How, can someone take your child from your home without you even noticing?

The fact the mum can't be named for legal reasons must mean that there is something else the news are not reporting.

LIZS · 04/01/2006 20:48

Doesn't that just mean they don't want to identify the victim, even vaguely. Agree it is odd that it isn't top news story, as if there may be reporting restrictions.

Nbg · 04/01/2006 20:56

I don't think they will name the girls family and I wouldn't be suprised if they don't name all the 3 sick and twisted men involved.

They really should bring back some form of torture for this kind of thing. Makes me so effin mad

Hulababy · 04/01/2006 21:03

The won't name the family because of the little girl's age. To protect her.

This is so terrifying. I just find it so incomprehensible that someone can do such a thing to such a tiny child. My DD is coming up to 3 and it just chills me to the bone.

The family must be so

PrincessPeaHead · 04/01/2006 21:08

well I read the full report and apparently they have 6 children, they had had a family party at home that day, as everyone was coming and going a man parked in a car outside the house, called the 3 yr old over and made off with her. The family called the police pretty quickly (the man was not related but was "known to the family") - so I don't know if they suspected foul play immediately or took half an hour or so to wonder what was going on. The police immediately put out a search for the car, which is why they tried to stop it in swindon, they had the reg no. And it went through a red light with no headlights on.

The whole thing makes me feel physically sick. THe fact that the three men are of such disparate ages - mid 20s, mid 30s and mid 40s makes me feel sick as well - more likely that they all colluded together to plan this for the three of them, less likely that the 20 yr old acted on a sick whim and his mates went along with it. I don't know why that should be worse, but to my mind it suggests that this isn't the only thing they have done...

can't bear to think about it.

I still keep thinking where were they taking her? What were their plans? Is there somewhere they take "other" children?

I hate this. I feel sick to the bone thinking of it. The poor little thing.

I agree with princesspeahead, sounds like they clubbed together to kidnap and abuse a child. I hope to god they've not done this before and got away with it. Have a horrid feeling they were only a small part of a larger group and that's where they were heading.

im so glad she's safe you know,
it's winds me up to know how many sick people there are out there.

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 04/01/2006 21:33

Poor baby, I hope she recovers from this terrible, terrible nightmare

I just cannot get my head round how anyone can be sexually attracted to a small child, a toddler, it is beyond my comprehension

ladbrokegrove · 04/01/2006 22:23

Nothing to add except am utterly devastated by thoughts of what the girl endured. Have just seen it on news and am shaking.

soapbox · 04/01/2006 22:29

I'm getting myself all twsited up with my thoughts on this one - on one hand I'm thinking LUCKY girl (as she was found before they snuffed her life out) but how can a three year old being raped be lucky?

I bet they're part of a paedophile ring - it's not just the kind of thing you get carried away with is it and do on the spur of the moment.

Truely awful, but if the paedophilic images used by sick, revolting people on the web are anything to go by, this is just the tip of the iceberg

EatDrinkAndBeAMerryPip · 04/01/2006 23:03

This is horrific. I can´t think of anything to say.

Piffle · 04/01/2006 23:54

Didn't you just feel they were going to kill her though, all that way away, this whole case makes me so ill thinking about it.
Thse bastards will really cop it inside not that that is any justice enough
How he parents are coping I'll never know, how to bring a child back from such an ordeal........

marthamoo · 04/01/2006 23:54

This is just beyond awful.

cerys · 04/01/2006 23:59

my DD2 is 3 and my DD1 is nearly the same age as the little girl taken from the bath last week. Feel sick and sad. Words fail me.

UCM · 05/01/2006 01:52

Lets hope & pray that the little girl is able to resume a normal life with no memories. It's unlikely as her family will know and somehow....

I would like to see harsher sentences, but those 3 men will probably get 7 years each because the judge is on the payroll.

Sickening fucking world we live in. This has upset me all day. How do you punish this? Hanging is too quick. But then how can we be civilised if we torture them for 50 years each. I guess hangin wins it for me.

suzywong · 05/01/2006 05:13

to follow up on PPH's report;
please make sure we all drill it in to our kids NEVER get in a car with anyone even if you know them.

Of course this was the tip of the iceberg, these men would have been well known to the police with previous sex offences records and they had this planned, or an attack like it, they probably roam the streets in this fashion weekly and they just got lucky on that day. My BIL is a copper in Bournemouth and he keeps a close eye on a group of paedophiles who spend all day in a car just driving round and round and the police know full well what their intentions are, but of course they can't touch them until they actually do something like this.

Let's just hope they get murdered very slowly and painfully in jail.

homemama · 05/01/2006 10:14

Wasn't the Yorkshire Ripper caught when he was stopped for a tail light being out?

I know everyone is saying how lucky she was to be found before they killed her but I just keep thinking it could have been worse than that. What if they weren't going to kill her, but just keep her locked up for years, repeatedly abusing her. Dear God, makes me feel sick just thinking about it. How many other LOs haven't been so lucky that the bastards ran a light!

HappyDaddy · 05/01/2006 11:01

The depressing thing is that they'll probably be put in segregation for their own "protection" in prison.

If a child can't wander around her own home without the fear of being kidnapped, then the world really is going to the dogs.

Piffle · 05/01/2006 11:02

It gets worse, local news apparently said the man whose car she got into was known to the family.....
he could have been around all that families kids for ages
