Another one for bingo.

That is all I can tell you.

grumpypants · 19/07/2011 18:59

Gawd. What is the point of the committee? It's like your mum having a gentle dig about your room being messy.

boswelloxsmith · 19/07/2011 19:05

Say, for sake of argument, that someone was being less than economic with the truth.

What happens next?

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:06

Nothing, I don't think ? They tick the box that they held an enquiry, and then let the Police do their bit.

whitewave · 19/07/2011 19:07

well it is up to the police and judiciary to prove that they are all lying so evidence etc is needed. We also need another whistle blower come on someone be brave!!

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:07

She has just said that they (collective) were very happy to come to committee today and explain everything.

I must be really stooopid.

Who has explained what, and when ? I have sat through it all, and am still none the wiser ?

grumpypants · 19/07/2011 19:07

Yep. Questions sound tough but it's just a stage for the Murdoch/ Brooks lot to say how awful they feel. How on earth did they not think about where the stories came from? FGS.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:09

whitewave

Do you think maybe that person was Sean Hoare ? Can't be brave when you're dead, unfortunately.

There must be other journo's that know 'stuff', surely ? Or have they all had bloody good payoffs ?

whitewave · 19/07/2011 19:10

she doesn't need to go to no 10 now because they meet socially all the time
like the dig at GB

whitewave · 19/07/2011 19:12

yes exactly we now need another one unfortunately

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:14

Yes.

I get the feeling there is more to come, but what ? I dread to think, tbh.

BornSicky · 19/07/2011 19:20

it's absolutely all nonsense.

needs a trial for any of the truth to come out.

Select Committees were allowing all sorts of evasion and non-answers.

terribly disappointed by them

OP posts:
grumpypants · 19/07/2011 19:21

Is that it? DD just started wittering at me and then I turned back and it was all black.

AwesomePan · 19/07/2011 19:21

to quote an old paliamentary put down..

RB must feel like she has just been mauled by a dead sheep.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:22

There we go.

Waste of time.

The meeting in the HoC tomorrow will be short and sweet so they can go off on their holidays.

"RM said he didn't know anything, JM said he didn't know anything, and RB said she didn't know anything".

"We will let the Police continue their investigation, where we are sure, they will not know anything either. Happy Holidays, one and all".

Pfffft.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 19:24

Ooops.

Missed out

And DC's catchphrase will ring out joyously :

"We're all in this together".

Cue hand-holding and swaying "Auld Lang Syne" 'stylee'.

claig · 19/07/2011 19:30

Pure theatre for the masses. Jon Snow positively effusing on Channel 4 News about the day that power was held accountable by elected representatives. Same old, same old. Keep the people in the dark and feed them bullshit.

claig · 19/07/2011 19:32

or feed them custard pies to finish the farce.

boswelloxsmith · 19/07/2011 19:33

Opium for the masses that last couple of hours.

BrianAndHisBalls · 19/07/2011 19:43

they kept mentioning a mobile number that she used an investigator to get an address for and asking her if that was for a paedophile (because she said she only used investigators for sarah's law). She wouldn't answer and said ;hes given lots of interviews, wouldnt be fair... blah blah blah....'

so who on earth are they talking about?? Confused

Hassled · 19/07/2011 19:44

She was woefully poor on a key question - when the NoW was running a story about the contents of Millie Dowler's voicemail, why did no-one ask how they knew the contents of the voicemail? It's one of the things I just keep coming back to - the news editor didn't wonder, she didn't wonder?

She gave some crap about how it would never have occurred to any of them to think "the voicemail must have been hacked" and so they didn't think thate voicemail must have been hacked. But nothing re what they actually did think.

She has poise and hair, I'll give her that.

BrianAndHisBalls · 19/07/2011 19:46

and why didn't they ask her 'you said at the ending of the notw that everyone would understand more in a year's time, so what is there still to come out?'

to be fair they may have asked her that i kept snoozing.

claig · 19/07/2011 19:47

they did ask her that

BrianAndHisBalls · 19/07/2011 19:54

sorry i missed that bit, what was her answer?

claig · 19/07/2011 19:57

I got lost in the answer. Something to do with how the paper had lost the trust of the people over the last two years and that the staff would look back in a year's time and realise that it was the right thing to do etc.
