They seem to be talking a lot, and not saying very much.

I'm watching and enjoying RM being apparently clueless about a £900,000 payoff!

Noelgallaghersguitar · 19/07/2011 15:54

Murdoch Jnr accent reminds me of John Malkovich in his creepiest roles. am not being racist to Americans, just something about his dialect. And wow, this point about Goodmans's barristers fees being paid by NOTW; in a minute Steptoe & Son will say that was paid out of petty cash too and they know nothing. ha!

TheGrimSweeper · 19/07/2011 15:55

Yy. Loving rm's look of beffudlement Grin

pettyprudence · 19/07/2011 15:56

hmmm James doesn't seem "able" to answer many questions and Rupert seems thoroughly pissed off to be there and a bit puzzled as to why phone hacking is a problem.

JM is hiding behind his lack of knowledge and RM is trying to make out that phone hacking is a fly to be swot rather than a major chief and assistant chief of police and potentially PM resigning matter.

londonone · 19/07/2011 15:59

lol small - The MPs are rather an embarrassment aren't they. They show a complete lack of knowledge about how large corporations work. Not really surprising considering some of their backgrounds

MollieO · 19/07/2011 16:00

Goodman was made out as if he was hung out to dry at the time his behaviour became public when in fact nothing could have been further from the truth. I think that is the point the committee is trying to make.

MollieO · 19/07/2011 16:00

Also the NI habit of making employees who leave sign a confidentiality agreement in all cases, not just those who may have ET claims.

pettyprudence · 19/07/2011 16:04

Lol at them talking about "confidentiality" and "personal privacy" for their staff and them!

Why are they not insisting answers rather than letting James M ramble!

Truckdriver · 19/07/2011 16:06

Arrrggg, that old chestnut "on legal advice"

MugglesandLuna · 19/07/2011 16:11

If I had a £ for every time JM says 'direct knowledge' I would be a rich lady.

RM seems to come accross as a confused old man who doesnt really know where he is! Whether thats an act or not I dont know, but he plays it well.

MollieO · 19/07/2011 16:13

They can only ask they cannot compel. Afaik they have no legal sanction if Murdochs don't or won't answer their questions. The Murdochs only agreed to appear because of the flack happening now in the US (which is of more interest to RM) so they thought they could use this as a positive PR exercise 'look at how helpful we are'....

MollieO · 19/07/2011 16:14

RM knows exactly where he is and what he is doing. Very deliberate behaviour on his part in the hope of eliciting unwarranted sympathy.

sharbie · 19/07/2011 16:16

they are playing at being dim

MollieO · 19/07/2011 16:23

I'm not a fan of Keith Vaz but he did a far better job with the Sir Paul Stephenson this morning than these lot are doing this afternoon. Too reverential imo.

caramelwaffle · 19/07/2011 16:25

On a totally superficial note: I hate James Murdochs trans-Pacific accent

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie · 19/07/2011 16:32

Muggles - I agree Grin it's been bugging me who he looks like

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/07/2011 16:56

What happened????? I turned over for a split second....

sittinginthesun · 19/07/2011 16:56

What happened there? Someone went for RM's wife?

OP posts:
MugglesandLuna · 19/07/2011 16:56

He was attacked by someone - think a protester with an egg???

The wife really went for the attacker.

TrulySlumptious · 19/07/2011 16:57

Did someone just punch RM, the woman in the pink coat gave a good smack back.
