I have. It's the one way we can punish Murdoch and save ourselves some money at the same time!

I thought sky had bought out virgin media a while a go?

danniclare · 04/08/2011 22:34

No, Sky would not be allowed to buy Virgin for competition reasons. They bought a big stake in ITV and were ordered to sell it. At a loss.

Never has a Sky salesman call. Should I be offended?

wikolite · 04/08/2011 22:56

Without Sky money every major sport would go bust and the good Murdoch has done for sport can't be disputed.

danniclare · 06/08/2011 00:17

Really wikolite? Sucked money out of every thing except one top league and made it so easy to watch top flight matches from the sofa that local clubs don't stand a chance, let alone other sports.

AwesomePan · 06/08/2011 00:37

well in this country without Sky money we wouldn't be having the obscene wages being paid to footballers at the Premiership level and so the loss of resources to lower leagues.

Sky has dealt a deep blow to the sport, sucked in a sort of beer-and-footie crowd who have noo idea how much they are paying for the privilige.

Since Sky came in, has the English footie team improved? No. It's regressed.

SpeedyGonzalez · 06/08/2011 00:55

Surely if Sky hadn't bought up the rights to all that sport, someone else would have? I always thought sport was sort of popular and therefore, er, easily sellable.
