I know there are threads flying about all over the place re; the strike, but this is purely to register support - it would be great if we could keep it going until midnight on Thursday ( 30th June )

you don't have to say anything - just smile, like this Smile

Well, I'm worried that, one day, my 4 year old grandchild may find themselves in a reception class of 30 with a 66 year old teacher, which I think would be pants for them and for the teacher! So, go teachers, I'm right behind you :D

Grockle · 30/06/2011 08:10

Thank you all Smile

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 30/06/2011 08:15

full support from me Smile

Solidarity · 30/06/2011 08:21

frantic51 - not just working longer but getting a reduced pension on top.

Not fair at all.

Francis Maude Just got hammered by Evan Davis on the Today programme. He completely fell to pieces when he was scrutinised on the details of public sector pension reforms. The government have been lying about this for so long and the lies keep getting repeated until they become truth. He was completely exposed today. Good.

AliceWhirledSupportsTheStrike · 30/06/2011 09:03

I was Grin listening to that!

telsa · 30/06/2011 09:06

complete and utter support for ALL strikers today.

smugmumofboys · 30/06/2011 09:08

I heard that. I loved Evan talking about his ctrl+f search for the words 'untenable', 'unsustainable' and 'unaffordable'. He couldn't find them because they aren't there. All he could find was that it isn't fair. And there we have the crux of the matter. Instead of lobbying for better private sector ts&cs people are looking to pull ours down to their levels.

boohoohoo · 30/06/2011 09:17

My dh striking today, he is a uni lecturer, full support for all those striking.

Signing in to show my support (I beeped a picket line outside the magistrates court this morning as well)

Hullygully · 30/06/2011 09:32

Go teachers go!

Hullygully · 30/06/2011 09:33

But not to work, of course

Xiaoxiong · 30/06/2011 09:34

And me, my DH is a teacher. Though he and his colleagues cannot actually fail to show up today (boarding school) they have agreed in return for not striking that the Headmaster will write a letter to all parents explaining the reasons for the strike and why they should support the teachers, they're going to talk to the boys about the reasons behind the strike and explain why industrial action is so important, and they're all wearing yellow today in solidarity with other teachers and other strikers around the country.

FidgetPie · 30/06/2011 09:42

Fantastic to see so much support for them - they have my total backing (as do everyone else out on strike today)
:)

SE13Mummy · 30/06/2011 09:42

Support from here too (teacher in non-striking union with DH, teacher in striking union).

Am a teacher currently on day-to-day supply so not paying in at the moment - no way I am working today though!

SpringHeeledJack · 30/06/2011 09:49

I'm a bit surprised, given the amount of support I've seen/heard over last the few days, at Labour's stance on the matter

they should be ashamed of themselves. I mean you, Mr Miliband

I thought you were different

Hullygully · 30/06/2011 09:49

They is scared, Spring, innit.
